Overview

i3 is seeking an engineer with real-time programming experience to support development of 6-DOF anti-ship missile simulations for use in a hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) environment. This position supports the Naval Research Laboratory, Tactical Electronic Warfare Division, and will be located in Washington, D.C. The TEWD's mission is to protect the warfighter from emerging threats by advancing electronic warfare (EW) through RDT&E of current and future technologies.

A generous hiring/relocation bonus will be offered to help relocate a candidate to the Washington, D.C. area for this position.
Responsibilities

  • Will perform software development related to missile simulation implementation, hardware initialization and control, data processing, analysis, and visualization.
  • Should have practical experience in C and C++ software development on Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Will be expected to understand the basics of missile system modeling and 6-DOF execution, perform independent studies of missile performance, and present study concepts and results to project engineers and technical working groups.
Qualifications

Candidate requirements are:
  • BS or MS Engineering degree (Aerospace preferred but not required).
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Working knowledge of simulations in a real-time, HWIL environment.
  • Experience with Common Simulation Framework (CSF).
  • Engineering experience-related programming and system performance analysis (5+ years).
  • Programming experience for engineering analysis (2 to 5 years).
  • Strong background in C and C++ development in Linux.
  • Experience with software development version control tools such as Git.
  • General knowledge of missile dynamics and subsystem function.
  • General knowledge of physics-based simulation and numerical methods.
  • Working knowledge of Linux environment (e.g., experience with Linux command line operations, compiling from the command line, and remote connectivity).
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with teams and independently as the need arises.
Knowledge desired but not required includes:
  • Experience writing or contributing to technical reports and presentations.
  • Experience with RedHawk Linux.
  • Visualization tools for scientific data (MATLAB/SIMDIS).
