Typical hours are: 7:00 am to 2:30pm; Weekends/holidays/weather events maybe required

  • Perform a variety of grounds maintenance functions in a variety of skilled and semi-skilled craft trades to support assigned contract.
  • May provide direction, establish priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate the work of other personnel while assisting in the accomplishment of grounds maintenance tasks which must be performed to proficiency.
  • May assist in the planning, layout and completion of modifications and repairs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and cleaning of grounds equipment.
  • Open, close, lock and unlock facilities as needed.
  • Adhere to safety policies and wear proper protective gear to include safety toe boots.
  • This position is a team lead and is not a management or supervisory position.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years of prior experience in grounds keeping or landscaping preferred or a combination of formal vocational and/or technical training and 1 year of experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to climb, bend, squat, lift and carry objects ranging from 10-50 pounds; prolong walking up to 90%.
  • Knowledge of methods used in grounds keeping, including use of all types of lawn equipment.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy machinery.
  • Ability to demonstrate accuracy and speed in work performed.
  • Ability to communicate contract specifications (Performance Work Statement PWS) to other staff members.
  • Ability to read, understand, and complete incoming work orders.
  • Ability to understand and follow policies, procedures and regulations as needed.
  • Ability to communicate orally or in written format.
  • Ability to work as a team member and develop effective working relationships with other staff and clients.

Working Condition
  • Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
  • Ability to work outside in inclement weather as needed and be exposed to various dirt, debris, and odors.
  • Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to respond to after-hour emergency calls as determined by the Contract Manager.
  • Possess valid driver's license and maintain good driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and base access to assigned site(s).
