Job Summary/Basic Function:
This position will provide specialized, coordinated, and centralized support to units across campus that engage in undergraduate student academic support and persistence and degree attainment efforts. The incumbent will analyze, problem solve, collaborate, communicate, and connect academic support resources university-wide. This position will provide expertise, coordination, and training to faculty and staff.

Level Scope:
Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:
60% of Time the Student Support Training Specialist must:
• Develop and deliver paraprofessional academic support training and ongoing professional development which is valued and broadly utilized university-wide.
• Supervise paraprofessionals directly employed by AASC.
• Develop and deliver training for faculty and staff related to quality use of peer support and active learning initiatives.
• Initiate and maintain partnerships with Academic and Student Affairs units to ensure effective, transparent and collaborative student support systems.
• Connect providers of student-support services and leverage resources across campus to achieve improved student retention and graduation rates (e.g. initiate and lead working groups to implement actions that increase student retention and graduation)
• Collaborate with faculty and CTL staff to advocate for/initiate changes to course curriculum involving undergraduate peer support and active learning strategies in classrooms

• Use university level analytics to identify areas where additional student support is needed; identify existing structures and/or develop new programs to address issues; propose action plan for collaborative intervention all to increase student success (e.g. review trend lines and statistical correlations of factors to propose associated actions for desired change)
• Collect, analyze, and interpret quantitative (e.g. program usage, grades, pass rates, etc.) and qualitative (student demographics, survey data, faculty feedback, etc.) data to make program level adjustments and changes for the purpose of maintaining quality staff and student support
• Stay current with and contribute to regional, national, and international initiatives in supplemental instruction and/or related academic support fields to promote best practices within AASC support programs as well as disseminate best practices to peer SI and Learning Assistance communities through peer reviewed publications or conference attendance and presentations

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Ability to work independently and use reference manuals to develop proficiency with software or computer systems.
• Good organizational, written and verbal communication skills in the preparation and presentation of results.
• Good interpersonal skills
• Able to effectively prioritize and work on multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines and demonstrate excellent time management skills and efficiency.
• Ability to analyze and interpret data.
• Knowledge of training practices and delivery methods.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree from accredited four-year college/university in Student Affairs Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education, or other related fields
3-5 years coordinating, managing, and overseeing programs in a higher-education setting
1-2 years supervisory experience
Expertise in learning development, learning-skills assessment, and academic coaching
Data analysis and formal program assessment
Strong experience with creating and managing collaboration between various university programs
Creation and delivery of training curricula; experience teaching in a higher-education setting
Experience leading teams to achieve complex organizational goals
Excellent written communication and presentation skills
