As an Accessories Electrical Engineer at Facebook Reality Labs (FRL), you will contribute to the design of next-generation end-to-end Portal, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) accessory products. You will work in a dynamic cross-functional team including electrical, mechanical, firmware and software engineers, also experience, design and research experts. This role will be a key participant in Proof of Concepts (POC) or Proof of Experience (POE) electrical systems decisions, be responsible for providing electrical engineering direction to overseas CM/JDM engineering development teams, negotiate features, guide and enable FW, OS, and SW interaction collaboration, provide electrical engineering support to Product Team, etc.

Accessories Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Design electrical engineering solutions for end-to-end future VR/AR accessory devices and experiences.
  • Coordinate design, integration, and product realization with Experiences, Design, FW, SW, Quality, Reliability, and Compliance teams.
  • Building schematics, completing board layouts, assembling, testing, debugging, and integrating designs into electro-mechanical systems.
  • Establish and conduct collaboration opportunities with external partners or resources.
  • Designing, simulating, prototyping, debugging and testing of embedded systems which combine electronics, mechanics, and software with end-to-end ownership of product design from early product development through production.
  • Travel both domestically and internationally up to 20%.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of industry experience in electrical/hardware product design
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience with schematic capture and board design using Cadence OrCAD, Altium or equivalent
  • Experience with electrical lab test equipment
  • Experience designing consumer products with overseas partners


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or equivalent
  • 10+ years of industry experience in electrical/hardware product design
  • Analog design experience, including experience with switching power supplies, LED drive circuitry, and measurement of analog signals
  • Experience with USB Power Delivery, power adapter design, and battery charging
  • Experience designing and optimizing battery/low power embedded systems
  • Experience with designing and debugging USB HS, SS data communications
  • Experience with Audio system design, testing, and manufacturing with cross functional teams
  • Interpersonal communication experience. Experience working cross-disciplinary and mentor best practices and team members
