JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Function:
Identify, design and document internal controls required to mitigate financial reporting risk and maintain a sound internal control environment. The position will provide support for internal control projects, monitoring and testing protocols required for a full attestation over Financial Reporting by an independent auditor.
Performs a variety of bookkeeping and administrative functions in accordance with Standard Procedures; to include Troubled Debt Restructure evaluations; wire verification, print checks, journal posting; reconciliation of GL and bank statements; assists with reporting requirements; audit requirements; and performs various other functions in the association accounting department.
Serve as backup to the Accounts Payable function.

Essential Functions
Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting: Identify, design and document internal controls required to mitigate financial reporting risk and maintain a sound internal control environment. The position will provide support for internal control projects, monitoring and testing protocols required for a full attestation over Financial Reporting by an independent auditor. This position will also monitor GAAP and regulatory developments to support external reporting and implementation of new controls as needed.

Bookkeeping and Administrative Accounting: Perform Troubled Debt Restructure evaluations; backup for wire verification, posting journal entries, print checks; reconciliation of bank and/or general ledger accounts; assist controller with budget and/or financial reporting; serve as backup to the Accounts Payable function.

Fixed Asset and Inventory - Process fixed asset acquisitions, retirements & trade-ins as needed. Monitor fixed asset accounting activities. Prepare quarterly board report of capital purchases and retirements by deadlines established by corporate secretary. Prepare personal property tax returns for counties.

Other Duties - Other assigned tasks are performed timely and accurately.

Skills / Qualifications
Essential:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related major preferred.
• 2-3 years of accounting and/or accounting systems experience.
• Possess sufficient communications skills, both written and oral to represent the Association in a professional manner. Ability to initiate, organize and prioritize work required. Ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of GAAP and their application to the function performed with Farm Credit.
• Ability to work in-office required
Marginal:
• Accounting background with related practical experience.
• Knowledge of Farm Credit Operations and experience within the Farm Credit system.

• High level of analytical skills that are inherently required in an accounting/financial
environment
• Skills necessary to solve routine accounting problems and make routine accounting decision
• Skills in organizational effectiveness and efficiency
