The Lincoln Regional Center, a Joint Commission accredited psychiatric hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, is seeking a permanent full-time Activity Specialist to implement recreation therapy with adult patients. Location of position: Lincoln Regional Center, Building 5

Work schedule: Sunday-Wednesday 8am - 7pm. Thursday/Friday/Saturday off
Examples of Work
Activity Specialist plan and conduct various recreation, leisure, and rehabilitative services through group and individual interventions that are directly linked to the person's (patient) treatment plan goal and objectives. These rehabilitative interventions assist the hospital in demonstrating compliance to JACHO and CMH Standards of active treatment and Federal and State Standards of Care for Behavioral & Psychiatric Hospital Licensure. The position provides individual and group on-campus experiences to prepare individuals for safe discharge to the community. In addition, Activity Specialists plan holiday and other special recreation programming, maintain equipment and supplies, document on individual's progress toward patient treatment goals, supervise clients, and completes entries for treatment plan reviews.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Post high school coursework with an emphasis in recreation management, music, recreation therapy, occupational therapy, vocational rehabilitation or related field or experience in planning, coordinating, or directing activity or therapy services.

PREFERRED: Experience in managing and/or planning recreational activities/services within the community or organizations. Experience in recreation therapy or a related field OR a bachelor's degree in recreation management, recreation therapy, or a related field.

OTHER: Must possess a valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Creative, flexible, energetic person to develop and supervise therapeutic recreation activities with adults males. Ability to read and write, computer skills to provide monthly documentation to meet standards. Time management skills are important to coordinate groups and work with teammates.
