The salary range for this position is $5,546.67 - $5,842.20 per month depending upon qualifications and is non-negotiable. First review of candidates will take place on July 15th.

Under the general direction of the Registrar and Executive Director of Admissions and Enrollment, the Admissions Advisor will act as the primary point of contact for prospective students and is responsible for recruiting and guiding prospective students through the admissions and enrollment process by providing information on program requirements, admission procedures for SDSU Global Campus online degree programs and assisting applicants in making informed decisions about their academic and career goals. The Admissions Advisor will work with the Admissions Supervisor in the development and implementation of the overall scope of lead management and support services offered to prospective students through Global Campus across a variety of areas, including, but not limited to; on- and off-campus and online information sessions and events; prospective student support; pre-evaluation of applicants; coordination of application processes and follow-up with students. The Admissions Advisor will work in collaboration with members of SDSU Global Campus, academic departments, faculty, and other university staff as a liaison with students to enhance the overall student experience.

Work assignments will be of a complex level, requiring detailed administrative procedures and practices with notable accountability for end results.

The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Job descriptions may be changed at any time based on the needs of the department. Under the general direction of the Director, the Admissions Advisor is responsible for:

Student Advising and Support – 70%

  • Act as the primary advisor for all prospective and matriculated students
  • In collaboration with the Admissions Supervisor, review prospective student files; provide the information needed for admission decisions; work with Evaluations, Enrollment, and university staff to ensure all applicant file materials are received; assist with miscellaneous pre-screening needs.
  • Answer student inquiries regarding the online application process; assist international students with specific requirements for international admission; update database and student files with incoming documents.
  • Maintain tracking systems that ensure sequential follow-up for each prospective student at each step of the admissions process.
  • Track and review student admission status and confirm student’s completion of application and admission requirements; review student enrollment status; answer admission-related questions and assist with miscellaneous admission and enrollment needs.
  • Notify students of admission to the program and provide guidance on the next steps for program acceptance and enrollment.
  • Answer and respond to phone calls, walk-ins, and emails related to student inquiries while following department guidelines; research/resolve student service issues pertaining to SDSU Global Campus programs.
  • Utilize the college's CRM system (Salesforce) to maximize customer service and recruiting efforts through the use of prospect funneling, lead nurturing, and appropriate communication with incoming prospective students.
  • Utilize the SDSU Global Campus chat and/or SMS functionality to maximize customer service efforts and provide accurate, valid, and complete information by using the right methods/tools.
  • Work in collaboration with the Admissions Supervisor to integrate and apply agreed-upon, streamlined processes and help identify areas for process improvements.
  • Monitor application and enrollment management activity with responsibility for achieving key metrics in the lead conversion process.
  • Work with campus departments on behalf of students to research and resolve academic, disciplinary, and financial aid issues.
  • Work in collaboration with the Admissions Supervisor to develop and maintain accurate advising manuals and job aids.
  • Establish methods of performing assigned tasks; coordinate the office workflow and set priorities and deadlines, subject to supervisor approval.

Recruiting and Program Promotion – 10%
  • Participate in on- and off-campus outreach and recruitment activities and events.
  • Host informational table rotating through high-traffic areas of campus.
  • Facilitate in-person and virtual information sessions and application workshops.
  • Ensure the accuracy of program information on the website and databases.
  • Participate in application deadline and yield campaigns.

Student Onboarding – 10%
  • Work with the appropriate parties to coordinate requests for change of major, review course equivalencies, and respond to student inquiries regarding academic standing and change of status.
  • Advise students on program and graduation requirements. Counsel students on academic probation regarding strategies to overcome GPA deficiencies and recommend steps for improvement. Refer students to academic resources as appropriate.
  • Provide information regarding the financial aid and veteran's aid processes; make appropriate referrals for financial aid and payment processes; Work in collaboration with the Admissions Supervisor to assist with miscellaneous student support needs.
  • Work with students to submit appropriate documents needed for matriculation.

Miscellaneous – 10%
  • Performs other duties as assigned, which may arise from the changing and evolving nature of SDSU Global Campus.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to acquire a working knowledge of SDSU and CSU policies related to Academic advising.
  • Acknowledge of principles and best practices in customer service.
  • Strong computer skills with experience using Office 365 and G Suite, as well as other standard and custom software applications and ability to manage databases and to perform merges.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable SDSU Research Foundation and university infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to acquire a working knowledge of SDSU and CSU policies governing non-credit and credit course offerings.
  • Ability to independently handle multiple work priorities and projects and work well under the pressure of frequent interruptions, program deadlines, etc.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to edit materials for clarity and syntax.
  • Thorough knowledge of office systems with the ability to use a broader range of technology, systems, and software packages.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships, interact and provide customer support to faculty, staff, students and the public.
  • Ability to administer online chat platforms for Global Campus programs.
  • Ability to effectively handle a broader range of interpersonal contacts, including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.
  • Ability to work in a performance-based environment with established performance expectations and established goals/objectives.

Education & Experience
  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in related field. Specialized experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis;
  • Two-years of professional student services work experience or related field; a masters' degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one-year of professional experience.

Preferred Qualification & Special
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in an advising, office, or administrative environment.
  • Experience with coordinating program logistics.
  • Experience working at a University.
  • Experience working with students.
  • Experience in working leads/inquiries.
  • Experience working in continuing education for adult and non-traditional learners
  • CRM experience utilizing Salesforce.
  • Experience working in a performance-oriented environment utilizing performance expectations and established goals and objectives.
  • Track record of success in performance-related jobs/activities.
  • Access to transportation for off-campus events.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends with advance notice.
