What you'll be doing:

Working with the Quality Manager, the Advanced Quality Engineer is the primary liaison between New Product Development (NPD), Shared Services, and the Asia teams. Owning all quality related aspects of the NPD process, the Advanced Quality Engineer will ensure all new product development projects follow all Helen of Troy processes and are crafted with built in quality.

  • Design qualification test plans to validate product robustness and ensure best in class processes
  • Lead DFMEA efforts to ensure standard methodologies are followed, resulting in robust product designs
  • Evaluate Engineering Drawings and Define CTQ dimensions on critical components
  • Collaborating with Engineering, Marketing, and Insights teams to define consumer needs as CTQ requirements through product specifications and into manufacturing processes
  • Analyzing all available sources of significant data to develop a 'specialist' understanding of both functional and usability of products in an effort to maintain 4+ star ratings
  • Identifying, analyzing, and interpreting quality trends, risks, and opportunities and making appropriate recommendations to drive improvements
  • Support Advanced Development efforts through data analysis and occasional DOE's
  • Analyze test data and apply statistical process control (SPC) methods for efficient product specifications
  • Support PFMEA efforts to ensure standard methodologies are followed, resulting in robust production processes
  • Collaborate with Asia and Shared Services teams to ensure all Quality work is completed on time
  • Leading Risk Assessments (Design and Manufacturing) during the product development cycle
  • Acting as a 'bridge' to transfer product design to production. Participate in pilot runs, manufacturing readiness reviews and follows through on any open risk items to closure
  • Support VA/VE initiatives to ensure cost savings efforts maintain all Quality requirements
  • Leading periodic project quality review meetings and following up on identified improvement initiatives to drive robust root cause analysis and CA and reduces CoQ
  • Analyze 8D/CAPA plans submitted by suppliers, ensuring suggested Preventive and Corrective actions are robust and achievable
  • Providing executive level quality reports to ensure quality information is getting to the key partners
  • Plus, other exciting and challenging tasks that may arise to chip in to the success of the division
  • International and domestic travel required up to 20%
  • Requires a flexible work schedule with the ability to participate in evening conference calls


Skills needed to be successful in this role:

  • Decision Making - identifies and solves problems with innovative solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills, both written and verbal and strong presentation skills
  • Results Orientation, motivated by achievement, passionate and conveying a sense of urgency and leadership


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, Engineering preferred
  • 3+ years of related Quality Engineering experience and statistical / data analysis skills, preferably in the consumer appliance industry
  • Knowledge of electro / mechanical parts, components, and assemblies such as metal, plastics, etc.
  • Measuring and testing experience, tolerance stack ups, FAI processes, and multiple cavity part analysis
  • Working knowledge of problem solving and analysis tools - Minitab software, histograms, FMEA, risk assessment, root cause analysis
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certification, ASQ certifications - CQE, CRE
  • Experience with CAD software such as Creo
