Affordable Housing Development Intern- Denver, Colorado

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to work with our development team to support the development of affordable housing projects in various stages of our pipeline.
General Responsibilities: Support the Denver, Coloradobased housing development team on the acquisition, development, and preservation of affordable housing in the state of Colorado.
• Support Development Director in all aspects of developing affordable housing.
• Work could include any and all areas such as; evaluating properties for acquisition/development, coordinating due diligence/consultants, preparing investment materials for internal/external approval, financing applications, design-development, financial closing, marketing/lease-up, and operations.
• Support the refinement of marketing materials.
• Work with financial models, lender checklists and file management systems.
• Opportunities for networking and learning about Volunteers of America and the affordable housing industry.
• Assist with construction/development project management tasks, including coordination with utility providers and third-party vendors.
• Support advocacy efforts through a network of local organizations and interfacing with state and federal representatives.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
• At least two years of post-secondary education, including but not limited to course work in real estate, construction, community development, business, economics, social entrepreneurship or similar.
• Curiosity about affordable housing and finding creative solutions to meet the housing needs of the nation's low to middle income populations.
• Entrepreneurial spirit in approach to finding solutions to difficult problems
• Strong analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
