Responsibilities

Summary: This position is responsible for assuring the integrity and performance of all POS software and hardware prior to release to the user environment. Implement modifications to POS Register application software. Develops software solutions to support the Support Center's mission, and provides third level support. Maintains all documentation related to the use of all POS equipment. This includes but is not limited to procedure manuals, installation guides, and software updates documents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Perform functions necessary for successful implementation of modifications to POS Register application software including assisting in the determination of the scope and impact of software changes, interfacing with different Home Office personnel and vendor developers.

Administer tests of all POS software and hardware to evaluate suitability, performance, ease of use, error-free operation, and whether product conforms to specifications; reports findings; and makes recommendations to management. Ensure Sybase database system integration. Work with vendor to resolve problems with Sybase database, and improve POS application performance.

Develop and maintain software applications that support the Support Center's mission including store support, data processing, and POS systems configuration.

Write, update and review all documentation needed for the field and the department as directed by management. Ensure exceptional writing, technical accuracy, and consistent presentation. Also responsible for correct graphical examples. Work with the Operations Department to deliver documentation to the field as requested.

Fulfill departmental requirements in terms of providing work coverage, as needed. This includes performing all duties of a POS Associate II. Independently solve problems and issues escalated by 2 nd level Support staff. Performs all tasks as assigned by Management.

Administer the Microsoft SQL and Access databases, as they relate to HEAT problem-tracking database system, and Support Center Store Status and Asset Tracking functions. Assist in the maintenance of software applications necessary for data retrieval via polling. Assist in user training, preparation of management reports, and participation in product user groups.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Development software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. This includes Microsoft Office Programs, Publisher, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Access, and Sybase database.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Understanding of database analysis, including database modeling, logical and physical database design.

Knowledge and experience of database performance tuning techniques.

Familiarity with Connect:Remote software for transmission and retrieval of data.

In-depth knowledge of the operation, configuration, technologies, architecture, and installation of POS hardware components including IBM-compatible PCs, printers, monitors/display devices, modems, networking components, power management devices, telephone equipment, keyboards/input devices, credit authorization terminals, and Telxon/Symbol data recording units.

Comprehensive understanding of POS Systems operation, configuration, and data structures.

Strong problem solving skills.

Understanding of PC communications techniques, protocols, software, and hardware.

Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally, and in writing.

Proficient in technical writing.
