Description:

The Division of Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of pediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, cellular immunotherapy, and apheresis medicine. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. Board-certified in pediatric hematology/oncology.

Teaching responsibilities may include didactic and clinical instruction of junior faculty, residents, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, and medical students. Favorable teaching evaluations are desirable.

Clinical responsibilities may include inpatient and outpatient care focused on children, adolescents and young adults receiving hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT), cellular immunotherapy, and undergoing clinical and therapeutic apheresis at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and active involvement in fellowship training. The candidate should have at least 1-2 years of experience as an attending physician in HSCT, cellular immunotherapy, and apheresis after completion of fellowship training. The ideal candidate will have experience in performing HSCT for both malignant and non-malignant disorders, cellular immunotherapy for relapsed and refractory leukemia, and would specifically be interested in 1) serving as a liaison between the Cellular Therapy & Transplantation Section (CTTS) of the Division of Oncology and the Apheresis Program within the Division of Hematology; and 2) optimizing patient care and workflows for patients and donors undergoing stem cell collections as well as those requiring therapeutic apheresis. Clinical effort will be shared nearly equally between the CTTS and Apheresis services.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include expanding translational and clinical research efforts in HSCT, cellular therapy, and apheresis medicine. The successful applicant will be academically productive and collaborative. An established record of peer reviewed publications is required. The expectation for this position is to engage in collaborative research that supports extramural funding as a principal investigator or as a collaborator/co-investigator on grants led by others. Scientific expertise in cellular immunology and immunotherapy is required to support clinical and translational research of factors associated with HSCT and cellular therapy outcomes.

We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. The University of Pennsylvania is an EOE. Minorities/women/individuals with disabilities/protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
