General Summary/Overview Statement

The person in this role is a member of the group supporting the Mass Eye and Ear Hospital Department systems. S/he will report to a Senior Manager on the MEE Information Services Team. Responsibilities include the ability to provide direct customer support for a portfolio of applications on an on-going basis and/or working on small to medium enhancements and/or small projects. Primary systems to be supported are online medical registries and data engineering utilities written in erlang, gitlab, Drupal based proposal systems. The employee will also use SQL, Tableau, RedCap and other technologies to assist in the delivery of data and service to the user community. This large application portfolio within Hospital Department System will require Project management and customer relationship skills while supporting users across our MGB hospitals.

This position is critical to the IT support of our Research community at MEE. We have a small team dedicated to this service, as a result, when we are short staffed the service delivery suffers. The employee acts as both a liaison with the research community to help define scope and determine specifications. They also assemble data and assist with system development to provide features/functionality to the researchers for both IRB and Quality related studies. The employee will leverage several different technologies in the performance of their duties (i.e. RedCap, Tableau, SQL, etc...).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Work closely with end-users to define business needs and to develop alternative solutions (automated or manual), and provide appropriate feedback.
• Provide support of production applications, system enhancements and upgrades, hardware deployment...
• Participate in on-going lifecycle support, small to medium system enhancements

Definition of project scope and objectives

Management and status reporting tools (Agile)

Feasibility and cost benefit studies

Requirements gathering (functional and/or technical)

System testing/quality assurance

Training and Implementation coordination

Post-implementation/on-going support and Documentation

Complete work assignments in accordance with an established project timeline. Inform manager(s) of issues requiring their direct attention.

Prepare written materials for use in presentations, meetings and final project documentation.

Function both as an individual contributor and team player within Partners IS.

Provide quality customer service and serve as an exemplary representative of Partners Information Systems. On-going communication, feedback and follow-through with customers/peers are essential.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelors Degree preferred or relevant experience

3+ years relevant experience in information systems, healthcare or related field required

1-3 years application development

1-3 years project experience using established methodologies and tools preferred

1-3 years experience in information systems in a healthcare organization preferred

Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required

Strong administrative, analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal communication, and presentation skills

Ability to cooperatively and effectively work with people from all organizational levels and build consensus through negotiation and diplomacy

Demonstrated ability to assimilate and understand new software

Ability to understand the work environment and competing priorities

Ability to develop and meet defined goals and objectives

Strong PC skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Project, and PowerPoint

Ability to facilitate and work within a complex, multi-site environment

Ability to manage workload and competing priorities in order to complete tasks in a timely manner

Ability to collaborate with and train people at different levels of understanding and education

Working Conditions

Requires local travel to MGB sites. Other travel may be required to attend meetings and professional development sessions. Off-hour coverage for user and service support as assigned. As projects and priorities dictate, must be available to work non-standard business hours, such as evenings, nights, weekends and holidays when and as necessary.
