Description Overview

Area Coordinators (AC) are live-on professional staff members with administrative responsibilities for three to four residence halls. This responsibility includes informal counseling and co-curricular education of residential students, supervision of a staff of resident assistants, graduate advisors, and oversight of facilitys needs. Successful applicants will have academic interests and experiences that include residential education, leadership development, a commitment to diversity, civic and social engagement, and an understanding of the needs of students transitioning to college, especially first-year and transfer students. We value colleagues who will be educators outside the classroom, who demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a commitment to academic excellence. By working collaboratively with colleagues both within and beyond residence life departments, ACs help residents foster leadership skills, develop critical reasoning skills, and practice ethical decision-making. This position requires flexibility of work hours, including some evening and weekend work. As live-on professionals, ACs are considered "essential University personnel," and must have skills in crisis management.
