Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Enrollment, the Assistant Director of Enrollment helps deliver an exceptional and inclusive student experience for University College learners. The Assistant Director supervises multiple Enrollment Managers, leads significant projects/initiatives that have team-wide and/or unit-wide impact, and creates and implements business rules and workflows.

The Assistant Director also leads and manages enrollment for a portfolio of academic programs, and is responsible for meeting enrollment goals by developing, planning, executing, and managing student enrollment activities throughout the enrollment funnel, which may include inquiry/applicant follow-up and relationship-building, and pro-actively providing superior, student-centered academic coaching and advising on issues related to students' academic planning, progress, and performance.

Essential Functions

Enrollment Management Team Leadership

• Helps develop and execute enrollment strategy and manage day-to-day operations of the enrollment management team.
• Provides leadership and management of assigned team-wide/unit-wide enrollment projects and initiatives.
• Supervises a team of 2+ enrollment managers and is responsible for their team meeting enrollment objectives.
• Works with teams within University College and across the University of Denver on enrollment issues.
• Oversees recruitment budgets for direct reports.

Student Recruitment

• Provide leadership in student recruitment for assigned programs by pro-actively and assertively engaging with inquiries and applicants through a variety of communication channels, throughout the enrollment funnel, and meeting or exceeding term and annual recruitment goals.
• Determine and understand prospective student needs, educational and career interests/goals and other germane information and offer compelling connections with University College programs.
• Effectively use customer relationship management software and data tools and resources to monitor and track performance and support and enhance recruitment strategies and outreach (e.g. yield management, forecasting, etc.), including documenting student contacts, setting appointments/contacts, etc.
• Manage annual recruitment budget for assigned programs and ensures expenses do not exceed budget.
• Possess strong working knowledge of academic content within assigned academic program(s), be conversant about industry events/trends/employment within assigned programs, and know general policies, including DU-specific, federal financial aid, veteran's affairs, and international students.
• Be knowledgeable about all University College academic programs.

Student Advising and Retention Management

• Lead and manage student advising in assigned programs by meeting or exceeding student persistence, retention, and enrollment benchmarks through implementing annual student retention plans, closely monitoring plan performance, pro-actively implementing adjustments when necessary, and reporting outcomes.
• Use data software and tools, including Banner, to monitor student academic progress, identify at-risk students, and pro-actively deliver solutions and resources to ensure persistence, retention, and academic success. Communicate with withdrawn and stopped-out students to promote and achieve their re-enrollment in courses.
• Using both developmental and high touch academic advising approaches, support student academic achievement and enrollment persistence and retention at all stages of the student life cycle. Pro-actively build/maintain relationships with all active (current and stopped-out) students in assigned programs.
• Engage with academic directors, adjunct faculty, student services, and University College's LX Team to address student academic performance issues, support student achievement and success, and improve advising outcomes.
• Possess strong working knowledge of resources on campus for overall student success, including, but not limited to, financial aid, career services, international student services, and writing center

Other

• Performs other tasks, as required, in support of University College and the Enrollment Management Team.
• Participates as enthusiastic member of the Enrollment Management team, which is accountable for new student recruitment, student retention, and enrollment. As necessary, willingly works non-traditional hours required to effectively recruit and advise adult students who reside across the United States.

5. Other

• Enjoys and is proficient using computer/technological solutions, including Microsoft Office suite, customer relationship management software, texting, Zoom , etc.
• Is conversant with best practices in enrollment (recruitment and retention) and seeks opportunities to implement such practices

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Three years of educational recruitment, advising, or applicable sales experience
• Two years' experience managing direct reports and leading teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree
• Experience recruiting, advising, and coaching graduate/adult students

Working Environment

1. Standard office environment.
2. Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
2. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. In accordance with the University's work from home policy, all University College employees are eligible to be considered for partial remote work. Further details regarding this plan will be determined with the hiring manager and are dependent on the division and team specific needs.

Salary Grade Number:

The salary grade for the position is 9.

Salary Range:

The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
