Description
The Nebraska Board of Parole and Division of Parole Supervision is seeking an Assistant Parole Officer to provide support to the Omaha area Parole Officers. The position will involve minimal travel around Douglas County and surrounding areas.

Please note- The top candidate will be required to commute to and from initial training, which will be held at the Lincoln Regional Office 421 South 9th Street, Suite 220, Lincoln, NE for the first month of employment. A State vehicle or mileage reimbursement will be provided. This will be followed by on the job training in Omaha.

Examples of Work
o Responsible for drug testing inventory and supplies and place orders as needed.
o Responsible for electronic monitoring equipment and inventory and place orders as needed.
o Maintain and submit Transportation Service Bureau (TSB) mileage logs and be the point of contact for all TSB related needs.
o Assist Officers with drug testing needs.
o Assist Officers with collateral contacts and upload the information into PIMS at the request of the Officer.
o Assist the Officers with the monthly Valley Hope runs.
o Answer the front desk phones between the hours of 8:00 - 4:30 pm.
o Assist the Officers with EM installs for OCC and CCCO hearings.
o Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Coursework/training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods including the operation of personal computers and office equipment; or areas related to the programs and functions of the employing agency. OR Experience in customer service or public contact; or applying criteria/regulations; and/or performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including use of personal computers and office equipment.

PREFERRED: Graduation from high school or equivalent, Associates Degree in Criminal Justice/ Social Sciences, demonstrated prior substance abuse or chemical testing training, previous experience working with the offender population.

OTHER: This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver's license or another form of reliable transportation. Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients, orally and in writing.
Capable of organizing and prioritizing daily work activities.
Ability to follow directions.
