FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Stella and Charles Guttman Community College, City University of New York, seeks an accomplished practitioner-educator with expertise in Cybersecurity to serve on the faculty and support the culture of teaching and learning across the institution.
This full-time tenured/tenure-track Assistant Professor position will begin in Fall 2023. For academic year 2023-24, full-time faculty are required to teach a 24-hour course load across Guttman's two 12-week Fall and Spring semesters and 6-week Fall II intersession (visit the Guttman Academic calendar online for dates). Faculty are expected to teach in person although some courses are taught online or in a hybrid format. Faculty on tenure-track appointments receive reassigned time to pursue scholarship. A record of scholarly production, whether in the faculty member's disciplinary field or in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, is required for tenure and promotion.
For this position, the successful candidate will have expertise in networking, cybersecurity, computer engineering or related IT/science field, for teaching within the Cybersecurity track of Guttman's Information Technology program of study. Using interdisciplinary and experiential approaches, the IT Program lays a solid technological and digital knowledge base leading to further study, professional advancement and the opportunity to specialize in cybersecurity. This position will teach topical course areas that include cybersecurity, computer forensics, penetration testing, computer networking, Java programming, web technologies, systems analysis and design, and operating systems.
Guttman faculty are also active members of the College Community through participation in collaborative work initiatives that advance the goals of the College.

VACCINE MANDATE:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in networking, cybersecurity, computer engineering or related IT/science field (awarded by start of fall, 2023-24); and at least two years of successful teaching experience in a college setting (full-time or part-time) required. Due to the interdisciplinary organization of the college, the ability to collaborate well with others in academics, student services, and administration is expected.

$79,188 - $99,532; Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.
After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.
If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.
Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
