Job Summary:

Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Full-time Graduate Admissions, the Associate Director will manage relationships with prospective students from application to enrollment for SMU Cox's Management, Business Analytics, Finance and Accounting graduate programs (MS).

Essential Functions:

  • Plan and execute events (information sessions, yield events, preview days) for MS programs, leading presentations. Track attendees and communicate with on-campus visitors. Travel to off-campus events (possible globally) to recruit candidates. Serve as a representative for the Cox School of Business, potentially representing both the MS and MBA program portfolios. Counsel prospective students on admissions process, direct application completion, and coordinate candidate evaluation process.
  • Develop marketing content for presentations (info sessions), website and promotional materials. Partner with marketing team and Assistant Dean to refine target markets / profiles. Execute email marketing campaigns for graduate program recruitment.
  • Interview prospective MS candidates virtual & in-person) and assist in scheduling interviews for Program Directors. Communicate directly with applicants via phone, email, and in-person and advise on admissions process for MS programs.
  • Evaluate MS applications for initial decisions and advise the rest of the admission committee. Process all applications (offers and scholarships) in a timely manner, tracking in the Slate system. Partner with the Full-time Graduate Admission and Marketing teams to develop and deliver MS program value propositions through on-line and in-person interactions / impressions.
  • Communicate admissions decisions for all MS programs in coordination with Program Directors (faculty). Collaborate with faculty Program Directors on admissions/scholarship decisions and support yield process for MS admits. Oversee administration of process for capturing and communicating decisions, deposits, and scholarships, including vital responsibility of ensuring accurate reporting for internal and external audiences (e.g., rankings, accreditation).
  • Manage social media channels for MS programs; develop communication with incoming students via social media, email and website.
  • Maintain admissions databases with all relevant information (e.g., decision dates, deposit, test scores, demographics, academic history).
  • Collaborate with Assistant Dean of Full-time Graduate Admissions and rest of teams, providing other support and managing other ad-hoc projects.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree is required. Masters is preferred.

A minimum of three years of professional work experience are required. Experience in student/ customer-facing roles is strongly preferred. Experience with project management is desirable.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to forge strong working relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in writing. Strong presentation skills are essential.

Candidate must have strong time management, organizational and planning skills with the ability to prioritize, and manage multiple projects in a deadline driven environment. Strong project management skills and attention to detail are essential.

Candidate must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills. Must also be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Candidate must have a strong commitment to confidentiality, as this position will be required to handle confidential and sensitive information. Experience and demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of individuals are essential.

Candidate must have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with admissions software (e.g. Slate) is strongly preferred.
