Job Description
The Associate Director of Engineering works within a state-of-the-art Broadcast and Production facility and is responsible for supervising engineering functions supporting live studio production, live broadcast events, live streaming events, content distribution on all digital platforms, pre and post-production, as well as equipment maintenance and capital planning. Additionally, this person will provide complete professional engineering leadership coordination with the primary Master Control Operations hub. Specific responsibilities include:

* Supervision of Production and Postproduction facilities and equipment including Cameras, Production Switchers, Audio Mixers, Non-Linear edit systems, Intercom System and others.
* Supervision of remote broadcasts and production.
* Design, documentation and installation of complex audio and video broadcast and production systems.
* Development of ATSC 3.0 Broadcasting and Applications.
* Collaborate and support PBS Network technology group.
* Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualified candidates will be a team leader that is also able to work independently as required. In addition, strong supervisory skills, ability to work on concurrent tasks and perform successfully under pressure will be needed. Additional qualifications include:

* A minimum of 8 years of experience in television engineering and operations; * Proficiency with Windows Server/Client platforms, high performance storage systems and video encoding/delivery systems;
* Strong understanding of IT-based broadcasting ranging from computer networking to streaming video and audio over private and public networks;
* Foundational understanding of Information Technology and how it supports operations, including hardware, software and network components;
* Experience with Evertz server and broadcast automation and play out systems; VistaLINK Pro experience is highly preferred.
* Knowledge of automated file-based QC and media processing systems, broadcast and production equipment, including transmitters, microwave systems, production switchers, audio mixing and postproduction;
* Experience with digital file and tape-based video formats.

Please note that work schedule may include nights and weekends.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter, adaptable to change in new technologies. Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills will be needed along with the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Candidates with a college degree are preferred.
