Job Summary

The Office of International Programs is seeking a creative Associate Director of Communications & Marketing who will oversee the development of dynamic and creative content for International Programs, LSU, and domestic and international audiences. As a critical member of the International Programs team, the Associate Director will work collaboratively across campus to coordinate communication initiatives that create excitement and awareness about LSU and its global impact. This role has the primary responsibility of managing International Programs' website, written communications, and social media.

Job Responsibilities

Strategy:

Lead the development of annual communication and marketing plans, with the collaboration of unit directors and other stakeholders. Regularly evaluate effectiveness of marketing and communication activities, updating or changing plans as needed to achieve goals. Develop and oversee IP branding. (30%)

Content Development and Creation:

Oversee development and content management of the website, social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.), brochures and other print materials, internal communication vehicles (newsletter, blog, Alumni news, annual reports, etc.), news and public relations, and external advertising campaigns and communication activities. Lead the development and publication of annual reports. Direct the development of marketing, promotional, and communications strategies and policies to build awareness of division/school initiatives and priorities, and to serve various communications needs. (30%)

Analytics and Best Practices:

Regularly evaluate effectiveness of marketing and communication activities, updating or changing plans as needed to achieve goals. Provide regular reports on communication and marketing efficacy and impact. Collaborate with the Office of Communications and University Relations to ensure compliance with the university brand standards, policies and procedures, and crisis communications. Provide advice and guidance to IP leadership and staff about communication opportunities, consistent messaging, and best practices. (20%)

Collaboration and Support:

Collaborate with and serve as the liaison with other LSU offices to coordinate communications, website, and marketing. Oversee relationships with internal and external communication and marketing partners and vendors. Serve as IP media contact and oversee communications about the activities of IP faculty, students, alumni and staff. In collaboration with unit Directors, support and publicize events and other IP activities, prepare and distribute event communications, and track event effectiveness. (15%)

Other duties as assigned. (5%)

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in communications, public relations, marketing, art, or other related field.

Three (3) years of experience in implementing effective integrated marketing, branding, public relations, digital/online, design and/or communications principles and strategies. Knowledge of publishing, design, campaign, and other related software. Experience working and communicating effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Must have demonstrated ability to produce a variety of creative communications (poster and print collateral, social media campaigns, email blasts) in a fast-paced environment with frequent overlapping deadlines.

Degree Substitute: If you do not hold a specific degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Art or related field, an equivalent combination of education, training, an experience will substitute.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, art, or other related field.

Experience working in higher education and international education. Basic knowledge of photography and the use of digital cameras. Skills in digital photography, video, and web. Demonstrated excellence in persuasive writing and in developing communications/marketing plans Demonstrated commitment to data driven decision making. Commitment to diversity and inclusion. Demonstrated ability to leverage technology

Operating Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
