The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest academic unit at Indiana University Bloomington. It is composed of 40+ departments, 50+ Centers, Programs, and Institutes, while also including the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture and Design, the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, and The Media School. Job Summary

Department-Specific Responsibilities:

  • This position will specialize explicitly in providing support and guidance in the recruitment process for underrepresented and under-resourced populations, including but not limited to students of color, LGBTQIA+ students, low income students, religious minority students, first generation students, immigrant students, and students with disabilities.
  • The position will act as a streamlined conduit connecting prospective students and families with appropriate resources on campus.
  • Serves as the representative for the Office of Recruitment in meetings and events that are specifically related to URM recruitment and admissions.
General Responsibilities:
  • Maintains, implements and oversees a holistic recruitment yield tactical plan for recruitment.
  • Develops, implements, and administers plans, programs, and events for general and targeted student recruitment in support of organizational goals.
  • Integrates a diverse and strategic communications strategy in collaboration with other departments, geared toward specific student declared academic major, career interests, and geographic factors.
  • Identifies and develops partnerships for outreach to prospective students and influencers.
  • Interprets academic policies and exercises authority and independent judgment.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates programs and processes and determines the effectiveness of markets and strategies. Exercises independent judgment and uses census data and modeling tools to identify effective marketing plans and strategies to address specific populations.
  • Serves in a collaborative role with internal and external stakeholders to identify targets of opportunity to attract and enroll under-represented populations. Participates in the assessment and evaluation of various models.
  • May attend meetings or serve on committees with the admissions stakeholders, including all staff meetings, recruitment, and outreach team meetings, customer service lead meetings, and undergraduate recruitment council meetings; may provide guidance to other admissions counselors, particularly regarding recruitment schedules and objectives for recruitment staff in a given region.

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree.
Preferred
  • Master's degree.
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 5 years of experience in admissions, higher education, marketing, or a related field.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

This position requires frequent domestic travel, both in- and out-of-state. Availability to work evenings and/or weekends on occasion. This is dependent upon COVID-related CDC guidelines and IU policies regarding travel and events.
