On the Mission Systems Sector team, you'll join our experts in developing systems and solutions that keep our world safe. Northrop Grumman's manufacturing department is seeking Manufacturing Electronics Test Engineer, Level 1, to support its Operations Engineering organization. This position will be located at the Mission Systems Sector facility in Rolling Meadows, IL.

The selected candidate(s) will work in a dynamic, people-focused environment where he/she will interact with product designers, manufacturing technicians, quality engineering, global supply chain, and test engineering. Electronic Engineers will design and develop system processes, guide the manufacturability of new product designs, troubleshoot production hardware, and investigate and implement continuous improvement.

The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Engineering team, where they will work on products such as Electro-Optical Distributed Aperture (EO DAS), Internal FLIR Targeting System (IFTS), and Electro-Optical Subsystem (EOSS) Systems as a Test Engineer.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Researches, designs, develops, orders, tests, maintains and identifies improvements / corrective actions for a variety of electronic equipment, electronic and optical systems, including Lasers, Infrared sensors, Fiber Optics, along with an assortment of test equipment and associated systems. Having experience in programming is a plus (C/C++, Matlab,National Instruments Labwindows/CVI or Labview)
- Troubleshoot production hardware to determine root cause of failures and document and identify corrective actions
- Work with suppliers to resolve technical hardware issues
- Support production floor operators and test technicians in a timely fashion
- Optimize processes to reduce cost and increase throughput
- Maintain processes and procedures in accordance with ISO standards
- Datamine, create and analyze metrics to target cost improvements
- Support hardware integration and test
- Create engineering documentation (change notices, parts lists, bills of materials, test reports, and test procedures)
- Support transition technologies from design to production

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and 0-3 years related work experience
- Knowledge in programming embedded software using: C and Object Oriented C++
- Experience presenting complex technical concepts to non-technical personnel
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Proficient in MS office
- US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience troubleshooting systems and hardware
-Experience using National Instruments Labwindows/CVI or Labview
- Experience programming application software such as: C#, .Net, Java.
- Experience with scripting languages such as: Python, Javascript, Perl, Unix/DOS shell scripts, and Pascal
- Experience in using MATLAB and Simulink
- Experience with networking and troubleshooting test stations and computers
- Experience with setting up test stations
- Experience with correlation studies
- Experience with optical systems
- Experience with fiber optics and/or laser test equipment
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
