Position Title: Automation Technician

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Location: Mexican Original Portland Plant

Hours: 6 P.M. to 6 A.M. - on a 2 on 2 off, 3 on 2 off, 2 on 3 off schedule.

SUMMARY: This facility, a crucial part of our Prepared Foods business unit, specializes in the manufacturing of tortillas. This position requires proficiency in multiple skill clusters including electricity and electronics, fluid power, mechanical systems, and manufacturing processes. The position will perform high-level machine and systems troubleshooting and repair, assist engineering and plant staff with the specification, installation, and modification of integrated systems, and provide technical support for all phases of the operation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Skill Proficiency:
    • Demonstrate expertise in electricity and electronics, fluid power, mechanical systems, and manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshooting and Repair:
    • Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair of machines and systems at a high level.
  • Systems Integration:
    • Assist engineering and plant staff in the specification, installation, and modification of integrated systems.
  • Technical Support:
    • Provide comprehensive technical support for all phases of the operation to ensure smooth functionality.
  • Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with engineering and plant teams to enhance system specifications and installations.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Perform any other duties as needed.
    • Attend training classes as required, with potential for some travel.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Training beyond high school including either an Associate (A.S.) degree in Electronics Technology (or closely related technical field), or a combination of education and experience which may include skilled trades programs or military training.

Certification(s): Certifications in any technical field or techniques is a plus.

Experience: 4+ years of automation experience.

Computer Skills: Standard computer skills; must have strong skills in document organization, the use of technical materials, and research techniques. Must either be proficient or become proficient in SAP.

Maintenance: Must have skills in automation software and network mapping. Must have skills in automation software and network mapping.

Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with all team members.

Special Skills: Must possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of management and operations personnel; critical thinking and problem-solving skills; with strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to read, maintain, and update electrical drawings.

Supervisory: N/A

Travel: 1-5 trips per year outside of assigned location.
