Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for inspection, evaluating conditions of, and maintaining fuel storage tanks, pipelines, and piping systems, product pump, filter, meter, gauge, and flow control mechanisms, manifold and valve systems, and other related petroleum system components.
  • Capable of detecting/recognizing system component malfunction, misalignment, leak, and adjustment issues and performing scheduled and unscheduled fuel system maintenance.
  • Participates in fuel transfers to and from vessels, including handling lines for ships, connecting hoses and safety lines, operating flow control valves and recording operational data related to the transfers.
  • Inspect fuel receiving, storage and distribution facilities to detect and correct leakage, corrosion, faulty fittings and malfunction of mechanical units, and gauges.
  • Inspect electrical wiring, switches and controls for safe operating condition, grounding and adjustment.
  • Lubricate and repack valves; lubricate pumps; replace gaskets; clean strainers and filters; service water separators.
  • Remove and install equipment such as filters.
  • Maintain records of inspection.
  • Test fuels, conduct daily surroundings and temperature readings of fuel storage tanks.
  • Complete all paperwork associated with position in accordance with prescribed policies and procedures.
  • Required to perform Quality Control fuel testing of all fuels.
  • Maintain records and document all samples collected from fuel barges, cutters, fuel trucks, cars and tanks located in ISC Kodiak and remote Coast Guard sites.
  • Testing procedures must be performed in accordance with established ASTM and Military protocols.
  • After initial qualifications, this position will require performance of weekend rounds in rotation with the other fuel operators.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications
  • Shall be a qualified operator, who has successfully performed the duties as a primary operator and quality control person at a comparable facility for at least two years, and holds a current TWIC identification card.
  • The AFO shall be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and ability to precisely perform the types of operations and operator maintenance, and fuel sampling and testing, required by this contract.
  • Shall be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of, and be able to precisely perform the operations for, routine recurring maintenance and adjustment of aviation refueler trucks and carts, the fuel dispensing systems, the aviation fueling, and de-fueling hydrant systems and their components.
  • Have the minimum training and experience required for fuel service operators
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to push, pull, lift or carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 70 pounds on occasion. Perform housekeeping, brush control and grounds keeping duties and corrosion control painting.

Job is performed in an outdoor setting with exposure all sorts of inclement weather.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • No supervisory responsibilities.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you are required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable references and background check. Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
