Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center, Indiana's first community mental health center, provides comprehensive care for emotional and behavioral problems, including severe mental illness and substance abuse. The Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Centeroffers both inpatient and outpatient services, including several outreach centers as well as clinic- and community-based services.

Job Role Summary

The Behavioral Health Academy Coordinator collaborates with the Director of Clinical Services to coordinate, evaluate, and grow the Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center Behavioral Health Academy (BHA). The BHA Coordinator has an integral role in the development of early career mental health professionals, as well as ensuring that established Sandra Eskenazi MHC staff receive training that secures parity in knowledge and skill level to graduates of the BHA. To accomplish this, the BHA Coordinator takes a lead role in the development, implementation, and evaluation of all Sandra Eskenazi MHC staff education.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Responsible for coordination, evaluation, and development of the Behavioral Health Academy for Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center while proactively contributing to Eskenazi Health's mission of Advocate, Care, Teach, and Serve modeling Professionalism, Respect, Innovation, Developments and Excellence

  • Serves as a liaison to other Behavioral Health Academy partners to ensure Sandra Eskenazi MHC is maintaining fidelity to the BHA model and is coordinating training efforts consistent with those partners.
  • Responsible for developing, maintaining, and training Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center new employee orientation and continuing education that ensures non-BHA staff have the knowledge and skills comparable to BHA gradates
  • Coordinates student placements at Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center
  • Provides supervision to Masters-level Social Work students enrolled in the BHA
  • Ensures completion of all Master's program required learning plans and evaluations for BHA students either through direction completion or follow-up with clinical supervisors
  • Coordinates development of online education modules with Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center Health Stream liaison
  • In collaboration with the Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center HealthStream liaison is responsible for tracking completion of BHA and staff assigned/continuing education for the Director of Clinical Services
  • Targets, develops, and evaluates needed staff competencies according to program and role with special attention to special populations and public health trends
  • Quickly but thoroughly develops trainings as required to maintain The Joint Commission and Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction requirements
  • Participates in quality review action planning to ensure any designated training is well-developed to satisfy the plan off correction, is clearly trained, and is completed by staff by assigned deadlines
  • Assists clinic and program leadership to evaluate training needs for program teams and specific staff
  • Leads the Motivational Interviewing Committee and constantly evaluates how to grow Motivational Interviewing at Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center
  • Represents Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center BHA at public speaking engagements and recruitment fairs
  • Collects and reports BHA data to Sandra Eskenazi MHC senior leadership, Quality Council, and other relevant forums

Job Requirements

Master's Degree in Social Work.Licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with at least five years of experience as an LCSW supervising Masters in Social Work students
  • Member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) as Motivational Interviewing trainer preferred
  • Valid Indiana driver's license that meets Eskenazi Health's driving policy requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge
  • Knowledge of pedagogy that best trains adult learners of various backgrounds, education, and experiences in a fast-paced, potentially high stress environment
  • Knowledge of common mental health and/or substance use practice in community settings
  • Knowledge of evidenced-based stress management and wellness techniques and programs
Skills
  • Use of various information technology systems, including Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Development of lesson plans, teaching objectives, and competencies/testing
  • Teaching a variety of healthcare based training modules
  • Leading individuals in stress management techniques
Ability
  • Ability to show flexibility in retooling learning programs and teaching style to accommodate needs of adult learners
  • Ability to remain current with trends in workplace pedagogy, mental healthcare, addiction, and wellness
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
