Overview:

The MGH Center for Global Health is a central hub of expertise and support for global health initiatives across the MGH ecosystem. We increase the efficiency and effectiveness of MGH's global health engagements by securing sustainable, equitable partnership infrastructures; educating, training, and organizing global health resources; facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration; and accelerating impactful research and innovation.

We are seeking a social media intern to assist with social media content creation and posting across our social media platforms for the Center for Global Health.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Center's presence on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and other social networking platforms
  • Research new web features, social media, marketing tools and trends and, as appropriate, makes recommendations for their use
  • Research, write and update overall web content
  • Serve as primary liaison to MGH Information Systems Webmaster, MGH Marketing Web Manager, Development Office, and Public Affairs Office on necessary technical resources required to manage communications and the website; responsible for complying with hospital policies
  • Work closely with the Center's website manager and Development and Public Affairs Offices to establish, maintain and enhance the Center's communications efforts, materials, and the structure, tone, and content of the website.
  • Manage website customization, problem resolution and performance management in collaboration with the web manager
  • Develop and monitors systems and procedures to ensure timely response to customer comments and enquiries received through the website
  • Establish a regular mechanism for tracking use and effectiveness of the website
  • Manage contracts with web hosts, bulk email providers, editorial photo libraries, and other web development projects





Qualifications
Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required:
  • BA/BS degree required in journalism, communication or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in the non-profit and/ or global health community preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Able to translate between technical and non-technical colleagues to create material for a variety of audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Excellent writing skills with ability to capture stories in engaging and respectful ways.
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural sensitivity and ability to build respectful and collaborative relationships with colleagues and partners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of photography, videography, and web technologies.
  • Web development or maintenance experience preferred.
  • Highly motivated, independent, entrepreneurial and capable of performing in a complex environment.
  • Attention to detail, with a strong sense of initiative and perseverance to carry through to completion of tasks.
