BI Software Developer

About the Role:
  • In this role you will join the Global Purchasing & Supply Chain and Manufacturing Data Development team and will partner with IT and Business communities to transform the processes and systems with industry leading solutions. You will drive analytical projects from conception to completion with high velocity and quality, translate the needs of business customers to technical requirements for Data Integration and Business Intelligence teams. You must be cognizant of status, roadblocks and pace of the project throughout, escalate as vital to ensure success and on-time delivery to business partners.
  • As a Business Intelligence Developer, you will be a member of an agile SAFE team that designs, builds, and deploys new and enhanced analytical solutions using BI and analytics. will be involved in all aspects of the development process including requirements capturing with key partners, developing technical design, collaborating with various applications and teams, development, and deployment
Responsibilities:
  • Create reports, dashboards, and scorecards in Cognos and Microsoft Power BI
  • Design and implement data validation dashboards and data quality monitoring tools
  • Develop and enhance Cognos frameworks
  • Cognos and Power BI Server Administration including performance tuning, scalability, security, support.
  • Collaborate with business, IT, and analytics community to collect, prioritize, suggest and document data analytic requirements and drive measurable results
  • Recommend types of reporting analytics solutions and procedures to apply to meet stated business objectives
  • Collaborate with other IT teams on issues involving architecture and design of data repositories, including development of new tables and cubes for optimized standard reporting
  • Develop and maintain appropriate documentation on reports, dashboards, and scorecards during the development lifecycle
  • Responsibilities include ensuring IT standards are met, production readiness processes are followed, and a quality system product is delivered and turned over to Production Support personnel.
  • The role may also be called upon for critical issue of real-time incidents. Responsibilities include advising steps to diagnose, repair or remediate issues with systems when assigned.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 3 years of Proven track record with Business Intelligence applications (Cognos, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, etc..)
  • Experience in working multi-functionally, including business leaders to design, develop and evolve reporting and analytics solutions while guiding them on the best business intelligence practices
  • Data driven and systems-thinking approach to solving sophisticated problems
  • Understanding of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing concepts and standard methodologies
  • Full lifecycle application development experience using standard design patterns/frameworks
  • Experience as part of a BI project delivery effort
  • Experience in BI performance tuning, testing, usability and assessment/improvement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Critical thinking ability
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in BI Administration - (Cognos, Microsoft Power BI, other) highly desired
  • Experience writing efficient Structured Query Language (SQL) using various
  • SQL-development software packages, including Oracle PL/SQL, and ability to use custom SQL for sophisticated data pulls
  • Professional certifications, like Microsoft Certified Business Intelligence or other data analytics tools certifications
  • Experience in ETL tools, DataStage in particular
  • Experience with Data modeling
  • Experience with open source technologies (i.e. Hadoop, Spark/Spark, Python)
  • Strong problem-solving capacity
  • Full lifecycle application development using standard design patterns and frameworks
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and personal development
  • Experience with SAFE methodology
Educations:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Or information Technology or related fields.
