BIG DATA ENGINEER
The Select Group's top client in telecommunications, Charter Communications, is in the immediate need of an experience Big Data Engineer. This individual will join a growing team that gathers datasets from multiple different sources so Charter can pull customer data, viewership information, etc. This candidate must also be open to working a hybrid schedule and comfortable in working in one of three office locations, (Denver, CO; St. Louis, MO; Charlotte, NC). BIG DATA ENGINEER REQUIREMENTS:

• 5+ years experience in Big Data including development and design using: Hive, Scala, Spark, Kafka
• Linux - must be strong in shell scripting
• Good experience on RDBMS - they use Oracle
• Strong communication skills, you will interact with business stakeholders
• Any experience with Hadoop or file transfer protocols are a big plus

BIG DATA ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follows company software development lifecycle to design, code, configure, test, debug, and document system and application programs.
• Assists in preparing technical design specifications based on functional requirements and analysis documents.
• Reviews functional requirements, analysis and design documents and provides feedback. Data is put into production environment - shell scripting is used as "glue" to connect data to sources - data interacts with Oracle push and pull data and submit it to Spark/Hive
