Responsibilities (key duties, scope of position, goals, expectations, skill requirements, and travel requirements)
The incumbent is responsible for leadership, customer service support and assistance in payroll process:
Solve payroll management related problems in SAP in collaboration with the SAP team
Provide leadership, guidance and support to the Canadian payroll team as needed
Issue all requested reports
Knowledge of CBA-Collective Bargaining Agreement
Coordinate all Canadian year-end activities - issue T4, T4A, RL1, RL2
Complete and file all payroll tax related YE summaries
Validate and approve the deductions at source remittances for Canada
Supervise and coordinate the preparation of amendments
Maintain relationships with all Canadian taxation authorities
Assist HR process support specialists
Internal/External audit activities
Team Leadership
Facilitate a high-performance team by securing the appropriate resources, through the effective enablement of team members and the removal of obstacles, and by maintaining a team focus on performance excellence and continuous improvement
Perform role of coach to team members. Responsible for the ongoing development of team members. Mentor them on skill development in order to deliver the applicable baseline service and facilitate career development.
Lead performance management
Accountability for team members' performance evaluations and promotions
Integrate cross training opportunities
Develop and manage retention
Continuous Process Improvement
Identify and implement process, system and internal control enhancements
Assist in continuously monitoring key performance indicators and service level agreements
Perform at a level that assists in attaining overall and team-level performance measures and goals
Develop and maintain training material for functional area. Participate in cross functional training workshops with business and shared service center personnel to ensure process compliance and maximization of internal tools
Interface with other Shared Service teams to ensure compliance with cross-team accountabilities
