The following base pay range reflects the anticipated base pay for this position if a selected candidate were to be located in Colorado. Base pay may vary based on location and other factors.

Base Pay Range: $118-144K

[This position is eligible for short-term incentive compensation.] [The position is also eligible for long-term incentive.]

Role Description

A great opportunity to be part of Zoetis to work with early R&D labs developing treatments and diagnostics for diseases in companion animals and livestock. This position will apply Data Science / Machine Learning algorithms to a wide variety of small and large datasets, with the aim of identifying biomarkers of disease state, progression and therapeutic intervention. Special emphasis will be placed on biomarker discover within the context of systems biology, disease modeling, mechanism of action, and pathway analysis.

The successful candidate should have a PhD and relevant experience in analysis of biological systems using a variety of existing Data Science approaches, as well as the development of new and innovative techniques. The individual should have experience working with experimental biologists and data scientists, be effective at communicating biological principles, machine learning algorithm approaches, and statistics to multidisciplinary teams, and be comfortable generating a variety of visualizations of the underlying data and the analytic results. The successful candidate will have experience using linux operating systems, writing and editing shared, reusable code for reproducible analyses.

Role Responsibilities

• Evaluate and apply various machine learning, AI, and statistical approaches to the analysis of Zoetis experimental data in support of biomarker discovery and systems biology.
• Identify ML analytical methods, new to Zoetis, that can improve our understanding of chronic diseases, the immune system, mechanisms of action of therapeutics, and lead to new approaches to target and biomarker discovery.
• Review analytic results of ML algorithms and determine potential knowledge gained from the use of different approaches.
• Present biological knowledge gained from these results to multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• PhD or MS in Data Science, Biology, Immunology, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or related field.
• Experience using Data Science / Machine Learning techniques on multiple data types, evaluating most appropriate methods to the task.
• Substantive experience writing DS / ML code in either R or Python, using shared coding tools (e.g., git), and running code on Linux as well as PC operating systems.
• Excellent verbal, written, and visualization communication skills with experimental and theoretical biologists.
• Ability to work quickly and independently on analyses of group projects in a fast-paced, innovative environment requiring frequent project transitions.
