Job Description

Put a LIFT in Your Career! Hyster-Yale Group, Inc. (HYG), a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional and talented Breakdown Parts Analyst located, at the PDC, in Danville, IL. The Parts Distribution Center (PDC) is the primary parts distribution center for the North America and several global export markets.

HYG designs, engineers, manufactures, sells and services a comprehensive line of lift trucks and aftermarket parts marketed globally under the Hyster and Yale brand names. We are one of the global leaders in the Material Handling industry and have been building relationships and partnering with our customers, suppliers, dealers and employees for over 90 years.

The Breakdown Parts Analyst will be responsible for resolving customer backorders for unit down (TCS/Red Alert) situations. The "unit-down" is the most urgent situation faced by our customers. The unit is out of service and immediate actions must be taken to affect a timely and satisfactory repair. Resolving unit down situations quickly is key to customer retention and customer perceptions of HYG's service quality (reliability, responsiveness, etc.) In order to resolve a unit-down situation, the breakdown analyst may identify new sources of supply, generate purchase orders and expedite with regular suppliers, reallocate stock previously committed to a less urgent order, or recommend alternative part offerings to the requesting dealer. The breakdown analyst must be capable of providing clear communication and the highest levels of customer service in high-stress situations.

Additionally, the breakdown analyst is a leader in the requirements planning department and is expected to identify and recommend continuous improvement opportunities. Due to the nature of red alerts, the breakdown analyst interacts with the full range of PDC suppliers and engineering, parts readiness, warehouse, logistics, and dealers. The breakdown analyst is uniquely positioned to recognize continuous improvement opportunities, training needs, etc. The expertise of the breakdown analyst is leveraged to address urgent and complex needs of strategic customers.

The Breakdown Parts Analyst Will Provide the Following Key Accountabilities:

  • Resolution of customer unit-down part backorders. Common activities include:
    • Identify alternate sources of supply
    • Expedite existing orders/direct shipment
    • Recommend alternative product offerings.
  • Communicate with dealer personnel to assist in quick resolution of unit-down backorders. These communications range from informing dealers of parts availability to complex analysis of issues and recommendations of alternative strategies.
  • Continuous improvement activities to eliminate waste, improve customer satisfaction, and improve profitability
  • Develop clear documentation of best practices and provide training to Inventory Analysts
  • Performance daily stock replenishment tasks

The Successful Breakdown Parts Analyst Must Meet the Following Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or technical field, or minimum 6 years related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in materials planning or relevant technical role (parts ID, engineering, service engineering, etc.) within the lift truck or similar industry/on the job experience

Other Skills and Attributes:
  • Knowledge of service parts planning forecasting models/processes
  • Knowledge of HYG systems, preferred; planning software, ERP systems, engineering records, warehouse management systems
