About the Job:

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) is seeking a talented Structural Project Manager for our New England office. While Wilmington is the preferred location, we also have offices in Boston, Portsmouth, Bedford, NH, and part-time work-from-home options. Candidates should have experience in bridge and structural design in transportation projects. The role will involve bridge design predominately in MA although bridge design experience in other states will be considered, experience in MA is preferred.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Working on innovative and challenging projects
  • Understanding the technical codes and engineering practices related to bridge design is required
  • Working with a team of enthusiastic bridge engineers to complete bridge designs from Preliminary Structures Reports through the development of PS&E documents and construction.
  • Mentoring and assisting younger engineers in developing their skills and understanding of the applicable engineering practices and codes
  • Design detailing and calculations in accordance with MassDOT Bridge Manual and AASHTO experience
Responsibilities:
  • Leading the bridge portion of a transportation design project
  • Training and developing staff assisting on each project
  • Quality control reviews of overall bridge projects, both in-house and from outside consultants
  • Assistance with technical code interpretations and understanding
  • Promoting training and professional development of the engineers within the structural group
What You Bring to the Table:
  • Prior professional experience in the layout and design of structures, including bridges and retaining walls
  • Proficiency in current industry software, including AutoCAD and AASHTOWare, required; Bentley Open Bridge, MicroStation, and MDX desired
  • Working knowledge of LRFD Bridge Design Codes
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in the structural design and analysis of Bridges
  • PE is a plus

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19\" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to climb and leave a ladder to a platform varying from 6' to 20'
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
