Job Title: Building Engineer - Journeyman Electrician

Job Summary:

Responsible for Operation, Replacement, Repair and Maintenance of building related mechanical, electrical, control systems, plumbing, air handling units, pumps, heat exchangers, expansion joints, and other building mechanical systems. Work involves the lifting of heavy mechanical equipment and apparatus, and may be performed in areas of extreme heat, cold, and/or noise. Receives and responds to service calls, takes immediate action to resolve emergency situations or system breakdowns. Ensure all preventive maintenance is completed and necessary repair are always made. Ensures that work area/plant is always clean, safe, and that managed/generated utilities meet delivery specifications. Oversees assigned utility mechanics and contractors, routine and preventive maintenance work to ensure work is performed appropriately and in a safe manner. Communicates with EMCOR and Customer operations management teams, tenants/utility system end users, and Business Unit Stakeholders.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete the assembly and testing of experimental motor control devices, control panels, programmable controllers, servo drives, solenoids, and other electrical equipment and components.
  • Modifies electrical prototypes to correct functional deviations under direction of Electrical, Project Leader, Engineer or Design Team Leader
  • Diagnoses of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and determines root cause.
  • Reads and understands wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and electrical symbols.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely paperwork related to essential duties, and recording of electrical and instrumentation testing.
  • Follows all site related and electrical safety policies, and participates in weekly safety meetings.
  • Proper use and care of tools.
  • Communicates effectively through the use of verbal and written skills with coworkers and clients.
  • Enforces quality control standards and develops yearly performance objectives for the electrical associates.

Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED.

  • Successfully completed Apprentice Program Minimum of six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Successfully completed electrical projects in a pilot area environment, or testing area environment.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

  • Local Journeyman License

  • Manufacturers Certification in Maintaining & Troubleshooting Programmable Controllers

  • Manufacturers Certification in AC Drive Application

  • Safety certificate or registration: lockout/tag out, qualified electrical worker, NFPA 70E arc flash and first aid/CPR, lift training.

  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from coworkers, managers, clients, and customers.
