The Business Development Manager reports to the Regional Sales Manager, and is located in San Diego, CA.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of a Business Development Manager is to identify and contact decision makers through cold calls, research and networking with existing clients or other representatives in the industry you target in your sales process; manage sales-productivity software tools to effectively tracks your selling activities, manage contact information for sales prospects and existing clients, and schedule visits or meetings with clients within your sales territory; work onsite at prospect sites delivering sales presentations and collecting information about the client to assist in the development of marketing plans and sales strategies to increase your chances of completing a sale; demonstrate commanding knowledge of your target customers, existing competitors in the marketplace and industry trends that may impact a buying decision and maintain a regular calling or contact schedule with companies to identify more leads or resolve any problems that arise in existing client accounts.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma, required. Bachelor's/College degree (Retail, Marketing, Business Management or equivalent), preferred.
  • 2+ years work experience in Outside/Field Sales.
  • Fluency in Spanish or Asian-languages, a plus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate revenue and acquire new (cold calling, following up leads, qualifying prospects) and maintain current customers by conducting door to-door canvas, appointment or referral solicitation in assigned territory.
  • Review assigned territory to ensure customers are contacted on a prescribed periodic basis.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by assisting with training and installation and managing the relationship of the client with your company or manufacturer.
  • Prepare and execute sales presentations and knowledge of products, services and rates.
  • Development of best practices for leading successful sales campaigns. Develop a repeatable sales model that ensures consistent success and revenue growth. Devise creative, "out-of-the-box" ideas and implement them.
  • Manage accounts and sales process. Maintain required record keeping and reporting of all sales and service activities.
  • Work closely with various departments (sales support, purchasing, accounting) to complete sales orders.
  • Attend sales meetings as required. Provide feedback to management, as needed.
  • Additional responsibilities as directed by management.

  • Must be able to supervise and motivate a team. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and an excellent command of the English language. Must be able to interface with other departments and teams in a professional and cooperative manner.
  • Must have excellent problem-solving, decision-making, critical-thinking skills. Must be proactive; able to identify problems and initiate corrective actions.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, multi-task and work under tight deadlines.
  • Must have a high level of proficiency using common office software, i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook and distribution or POS systems
