We are looking for a Buyer to assist in managing an expenditure budget for materials to support the company's gas distribution pipeline construction operations.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Initiate purchase orders for tools, materials, and supplies for construction operations across all states in which the company operates; arrange for submission and inspection of sample products as required.
  • Data entry of all purchase orders.
  • Send all new purchase orders to vendors.
  • Secure and analyze quotations, negotiate best prices and terms with suppliers, and recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness.
  • Carry out warehouse and inventory control policies and procedures.
  • Interview and confer with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics, inventory control and management.
  • Negotiate prices and delivery terms with guidance from the purchasing manager.
  • Contact suppliers about any discrepancies with quantity and quality of product received.
  • Interface with all company departments and resolve supply problems as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
  • 2+ years in purchasing role at the corporate level with progressively responsible purchasing and materials control experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to build relationships across the company and with clients/customers
  • Analytical thinking and good judgment
  • Intermediate use of Microsoft Excel; ability to manage multiple spreadsheets; use formulas, pivot tables, etc.
  • Learn new software programs effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, supply chain management, or related field.
  • Professional purchasing certification preferred.
