JOB DESCRIPTION

Tremco Construction Products Group brings together Tremco CPG Inc.'s Commercial Sealants & Waterproofing and Roofing & Building Maintenance divisions; Tremco Barrier Solutions Inc.; Dryvit, Nudura and Willseal brands; Prebuck LLC; Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc.; Weatherproofing Technologies Canada and PureAir Control Services, Inc. Altogether, Tremco CPG companies operate 21 manufacturing facilities, 6 distribution sites, and 3 R&D/technology sites, and employ more than 2,700 people across North America.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Buyer manages the purchasing process for all materials, equipment and supplies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages the purchasing process for all production materials, equipment and all supplies.
  • Finds, qualifies and manages vendors. Establishes vendor accounts and negotiates pricing.
  • Researches new vendors, outsourcing services, or other NB Plant needs.
  • Negotiates and sets up new vendor terms and agreements.
  • Creates manual and system generated purchase orders.
  • Reconciles packing slips with all received orders.
  • Manages the use of company issued credit cards and maintain associated invoice files. Reconciles purchases monthly and provides required documentation to Finance in a timely fashion.
  • Performs various routine administrative duties, such as preparation of correspondence and reports
  • Investigates and informs the Plant Manager on an outgoing basis of changes in major purchasing trends such as price, consumption, volume, delivery, freight rates and material obsolescence.
  • Ascertains that proper credit is received for all returns of vendor material.
  • Resolves shipments or invoicing errors with suppliers.
  • Ensures that all P.O.'s have the appropriate attachments for suppliers.
  • Maintains accurate vendor information (contracts, contacts, lead times, pricing)
  • Maintains supply room inventory including all plant related personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Monitors open orders and expedites as necessary to assure timely delivery
  • Facilitates all plant training in coordination with the Training and Compliance Administrator. Plant training consists of obtaining a list of all employees and their training needs, scheduling the training, ensuring attendance, setting up the equipment, answering questions, forwarding confirmations and overall facilitation.
  • Acts as the local onsite liaison for all safety initiatives, working closely with the Manager of Environmental Health and Safety.
  • Maintains all files and paperwork.
  • Cross-trains with the Production and Inventory Control and Customer Service Representative to provide support and coverage during peak periods, time-off, etc.
  • Participates on the Safety Committee.
  • Performs other related duties as required, requested or assigned.
EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required. Associate's degree in business preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of three years' experience in a purchasing capacity, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must participate in and maintain all required equipment and safety training.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work well independently in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work through problems, organize and prioritize tasks, manage time provide thorough follow through.
  • Ability to maintain a steady pace to meet internal and external expectations.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently in order to understand and follow directions as given, prepare reports, read operating procedures and product specifications, etc. preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Work, Excel, Outlook), Online Order Management, Mapix/ AS400, ERP/CRM applications, Dryvit Learn Center, etc. with comfort and ability to learn new software and/or uses for existing software.
