Position: Buyer/Planner

Department: Beauty Supply Chain

Work Location: Dallas, TX or El Paso, TX, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite)

Hybrid Schedule: Helen of Troy associates enjoy the advantages and flexibility of a hybrid working model, allowing for in office 3 days minimum, and remote 2 days. Any changes to this working model would be communicated accordingly.

What you will be doing:

The Buyer / Planner will be part of Beauty's supply chain team. This key role will be responsible for managing and implementing all processes related to Drybar's supply planning, purchase order issuance, component planning, as well as work order processing with contract manufacturing partners.

  • Critically analyze and validate the MRP plan prior to issuing work orders and / or purchase orders to contract manufacturing partners and / or component suppliers.
  • Evaluate MRP plan and demand shifts to ensure supply plan meets demand requirements. Implement expedite and / or deferral requests with vendors as a result in order to satisfy customer needs and inventory targets.
  • Review all MRP exception flags and conduct a root cause analysis and validation prior to completing.
  • Complete all work order activities in the system to back flush components after production completes and scrap rates are evaluated.
  • Conduct weekly calls with contract manufacturing partners to review open order reports, expedite / deferral requests, priorities, upcoming promotional / program-specific events, etc.
  • Recommend planning adjustments to achieve optimum inventory levels based on forecast variability and / or vendor lead time changes.
  • Lead cost avoidance projects to meet Beauty and the Global Beauty team's initiatives and goals.
  • Complete PIM item set up workflow process for all new items, including Buy / Make Finished Good item types as well as Component item types.
  • Maintain all planning and inventory attributes by-item to maintain inventory targets.
  • Track and change item statuses within the system to align with transition timing and item status definitions.
  • Provide updates to partners on item master data accuracy and completeness.
  • Monthly review of ERP/MRP reporting to ensure there is not missing or incorrect data.
  • Provide regular updates to internal partners on production activities to support new product launches and critical items.
  • Analyze marketing and sales events to ensure all events can be met within lead time.
  • Communicate to internal teams all information captured (timing, requirements, risks, etc.) in order to be able to implement and support upcoming events.
  • Conduct and provide regular analyses and reporting to support the Beauty and Global Beauty team's SIOP process.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on key inventory levels to management.
  • Prepare reports and analyses to support Supply Chain / Operations team as requested.


Skills needed to be successful in this role:
  • Proven track record of achieving results in a fast-paced growth environment through analysis and collaboration with internal and external relationships
  • Excellent analytical, communication and time management skills


Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS/BA degree in business, mathematics, statistics, or a combination of education and experience in the cosmetics or related (FDA regulated) industry
  • 3+ years' experience in a Supply Planning role within the consumer packaged goods industry
  • Supply chain and inventory management competence and understanding
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (sophisticated to expert level in Excel; proficiency in Outlook, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Experience using ERP and MRP solutions (in-depth knowledge of planning attributes and MRP planning processes)
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Oracle experience
