Job Summary

  • Contributes on senior leadership teams to formulate strategic planning and the highest-level operational objectives for career services are
  • Establishes long-term business plans and long-term strategic objectives.
  • Directs leadership staff who provide supervision to career services teams.
  • Responsible for escalated operational issues, including human resources and/or people management situations.
  • Drives innovation and excellence within the area of career services. Reviews and creates policies and procedures.
  • Determines overall budget for career services teams. Reviews and approves financial proposals from direct reporting leaders. Has significant fiscal responsibilities that require frequent interaction with executive leaders.
  • Provides expertise and identifies grant and/or funding opportunities. Develops business relationships across the university and externally.
  • Stays up-to-date on new career services standards, technologies, policies, and procedures and works collaboratively with other career services leaders across departments and/or campuses in determining standards, best practices, and related policies/procedures. Ensures the adoption and implementation by direct reporting leaders.
Specific department responsibilities:
  • The primary role of the Executive Director of Graduate Career Services is to create and implement strategies for Kelley's residential and online graduate business students to engage in meaningful professional development and gain competitive job opportunities with premiere employers.
  • Ensures that all graduate students are prepared to plan and conduct a successful job search in a wide variety of roles and in a range of industries and organizations around the world.
  • Responsible for developing a comprehensive strategy to effectively promote and market all graduate business students.
  • Establishes, builds, and maintains effective relationships with potential employers for internship and permanent employment of Kelley School Master's program graduates.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • Master's degree in business.
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 10 years of senior-level management experience.
CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES

Preferred

Coaching certification and experience is preferred.

Required
  • Knowledge of career services field, including extensive knowledge of job markets and employment trends, is required, along with familiarity with professional development activities and graduate student employment opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain working relationships with business organizations is desired. Strategic planning skills, budgeting and fiscal planning ability, and the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of administrators, faculty, and students at all levels are required.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
