Position Information: Description

The primary purpose of this position is to serve current students who may be in transition understand how changing their major will have an impact on future careers, salaries, skill sets, etc. Additionally, this position would also serve alumni who return to seek services at Career Services because they may be changing careers. This position would work closely with academic advisors in that they would help students understand how changing their major impacts their curriculum, progress towards graduation, and future career plans. The individual in this position will work closely with professional academic advisors across campus holding several career-related trainings each semester so advisors can have broad conversations about types of careers that fit within students’ major and can be a resource that advisors can call upon when questions such as “what I can I do with my major and what are other things to consider when pursuing this major” arise.

Duties & Responsibilities
    Serve current students and alumni who may be in transition or considering changing their major to understand how that impacts their future career Provides initial and periodic assessments, such as Focus2, for students in transition or considering transition Develops strategies and action plans to address students transitional needs Collaborate closely with academic advisors who are working with students in transition to help students understand how changing their major impacts their degree progress and future career plans Collaborate closely with the Career Services Career Coach to assist students with resume development, practice interviewing, and job search opportunities Ensures all meetings with students are well documented within respective software programsCreate and host professional development seminars on career related topics to professional advisors and faculty mentors across UND’s campusServe as the primary contact for advisors who have career related questions Create a Career Planning and Resources Certificate Program for faculty and staff Help during peak career expo planning times and during career expo and other career related events Help with outreach in promoting and marketing career related events Build and maintain partnerships and connections with industry leadersAttend professional development conferences and seminars to stay abreast on current best practices in the field

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in an educational setting
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identify and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree

  • Experience working with UND’s academic programs

  • Experience using current theory, philosophy, and professional development as it related to career counseling and academic advising

  • Experience using Starfish, Degree Map, Focus2, etc.

  • Experience with leading or presenting at professional development seminars/events

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$44,000 annually, full-time, exempt, benefited

Work Schedule/Start Date

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., may require some travel as needed

Benefits
