Job Description

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. is seeking a Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Inspector, you will monitor the contractor's on-site construction activities and inspect materials to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and other contract documents. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be a team player, is enthusiastic, motivated, honest, and dependable. Works together with others inspecting construction methods and workmanship. Responsible for performing assignments in assisting Senior Inspector in the performance of their duties. Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress. It is desired that the candidate also be able to serve as a CEI Asphalt Plant Inspector, to perform verification sampling and testing services at various Asphalt Plants in North Florida.

Responsibilities:

  • Review Contract documents to verify compliance with governmental regulations and conformance with project requirements
  • Maintain detailed records of the contractor's daily operations including manpower, equipment, construction methods, and events that affect the work
  • Monitor work zone traffic control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issues
  • Perform day and nighttime traffic control inspection
  • Monitor the erosion control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issues
  • Perform sampling and testing of component materials and completed work
  • Verify the dimensions of prepared and completed work
  • Inspect the construction work and conduct field tests
  • Track/measure completed work quantities for payment
  • Perform survey checks
  • Performs standard mathematical calculations involving linear distances, areas, and volumes
  • Conduct Asphalt Plant inspections to ensure compliance with construction specifications
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) for transportation project(s)
  • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level I
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level I
  • FDOT Intermediate MOT
  • CTQP Asphalt Plant I & II - preferred
  • Nuclear Radiation Safety
  • Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors
  • Critical Structures Construction Issues, Self Study Course
  • Highly motivated and works well with minimal supervision
  • Thorough knowledge of FDOT specifications and standards with ability and willingness to study and advance relevant knowledge outside of work
  • Familiarity with SiteManager software is preferred, but not required

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails, and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19\" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
