Pay: $16.30-$19.05

Shift: Afternoon and/or evening 11am-8pm or 12pm-9pm

About the job:

The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing and assisting participants with activities of daily living and restorative/supportive care necessary to ensure the physical and health safety of the home environment. Assists in monitoring and reporting the health status and providing a safe environment for the PACE participants of Senior Community Care of Michigan. As assigned, works shifts in the SCCMI Day Center and provides care and services to participants and assists with the provision of a safe and effective day program

Required Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Unencumbered Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the State of Michigan
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Must have a valid driver's license, proof of insurance and have means of transportation.
  • Must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact.
  • A minimum of one year's experience in working with the frail or elderly population required.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices standards and techniques of a CNA
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
Preferred Skills:
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with participants, co-workers, medical staff, and the public
  • Skilled in identifying and recommending problem resolution.
Essentials:
  • Consults each day with the PCS Coordinator (or designee) to be updated on changes in participant status, changes in plan of care, and to confirm scheduled visits.
  • Personal hygiene such as skin, mouth, hair care and bathing.
  • Assists participants in and out of bed assisting with ambulation.
  • Assisting with prescribed exercise which participants and aide have been taught by appropriate personnel.
  • Prepares meals, including therapeutic diets, assists participants with meals.
  • Assist participants to the bathroom or in using commodes, bedpans, or urinals.
