Chief Philanthropic Officer

Salary: $102,676 - $128,345

Classification: Administrative/Exempt

Reports to: Olympic College President

We are revamping the Olympic College Foundation Leadership Team. This strategic initiative aims to bring in forward-thinking individuals who will not only manage daily operations but also shape our long-term vision for innovation and growth. In addition to this role there are two more openings, Fund Development Director, and Program Impact Manager.
As a senior administrator of Olympic College, the Chief Philanthropic Officer will oversee the day-to-day operations of Olympic College's Institutionally Related Not For Profit Foundation; spearheading fundraising efforts; building and maintaining long-term relationships with donors, alumni, and other potential supporters; overseeing the financial management of operational and support budgets and a $15 million Permanent Endowment; ensuring regulatory and policy compliance; supervising and directing the efforts of staff; and collaborating with the Olympic College (OC) Foundation Board of Directors and Olympic College President to ensure the execution of foundation programs provide meaningful support for the students and programs of Olympic College. The Chief Philanthropic Officer will provide leadership for the development and implementation of a comprehensive philanthropy program providing essential revenue in support of the Olympic College's mission. "Olympic College enriches our diverse communities through quality education and support, so students achieve their educational goals." The Chief Philanthropic Officer will oversee fiscal management, operations support, and stewardship for long-term relationships of institutionally related philanthropy foundation while personally managing an active portfolio of major/planned gift donors and prospects.Essential Functions

Key Responsibilities in Support of OCF Operations

  • Work in partnership and support of OCF's Board/Committee Chairs, to proactively advance governance requirements and program initiatives of the Board/Committees, including fiduciary oversight and policy development and management.
  • Ensure proper development and management of governing policies to support OCF operations.
  • Ensure that the Olympic College Foundation has a strategic long-range strategic plan to achieve its mission, including annual action plans to meet goals and operating budget requirements.
  • Hire, supervise and evaluate the OCF staff, including community volunteers and independent contractors and/or vendors.
  • Ensure official records and documents are following federal, state, and local regulations, including managing regulatory and charitable filings to maintain corporation and charitable standings, and accreditation when relevant.
  • Support integrity of OCF shared drive folders for continuity and stewardship of essential operations and program files.
  • Directs and supervises OCF staff.
  • Fiscal Operations & Accountabilities
  • Develop, administer, and monitor annual OCF income and expense budget for operations.
  • Point of contact for investment advisors
  • Provide stewardship of all funds, including managing for donor intent, established endowment theory.
  • Promote cost-effective use of OCF's resources.
  • Evaluate unit/program/org initiatives through comparison with actual performance with budgeted/planned objectives and prior year(s) performance; research and determine causative factors; formulate and recommend continuous improvement.
  • Oversee financial audit and Form 990 filing.
  • Customer Relationship Management
  • Provide oversight and support for optimized use of CRM to support effective philanthropy, including regular and special campaign architecture; relevant donor characteristics for segmenting targeted outreach; stakeholder biographical data; engagement tracking; maintenance for data integrity.
  • Routinely curate and document within CRM relevant stakeholders' characteristics data to build donor profiles.
  • Routinely document relevant engagement activity with OCF stakeholders, including key performance metrics data.
  • Provide timely review/input for weekly gift or other reports as requested to support data integrity.
  • Scholarships, Faculty and Program Award, Campus Fund Management
  • Optimize Olympic College Foundation program impact through strategic alignment with other OC initiatives.
  • Contribute to and develop fluency in awards programs cases for support to include in giving program strategies where relevant.
  • Ensure donor fund agreements optimize current and future relevance, efficacy of distribution, and successor amendments.
  • Optimize Olympic College Foundation "donor offers" re: awards programs to attract, retain and upgrade donors in support of major/planned gifts.
  • Fund Development
  • Major/Planned Gifts
  • Collaborate with OC executive staff on key OC priorities for feasibility of philanthropic support. Provide planning support for feasibility, including analysis of needs, required revenue projections, other resources for support, and gap analysis for required philanthropic support.
  • Provide support for OCF's participation in Leave 10 Kitsap and other collaborative community initiatives for estate planning.
  • Engagement & Stewardship
  • Curate case data, student, alumni, and donor stories to support OCF communication strategies.
  • Design and implement relevant donor recognition program(s) to support stewardship.
  • Produce annual stewardship impact reports to fund donors/successors re: donor impact funds, funds disbursed, earnings/losses, and updated market valuations of endowed funds.
  • Communications
  • Maintain oversight for all OCF communication.
  • Craft a variety of effective, persuasive communications for internal and external use.
  • Serve as primary liaison with contracted graphic designers and contracted writers, unless delegated.
  • Develop key messages for OCF and priority program initiatives.
  • Review and edit program collateral, including engagement and solicitation materials, as well as other program impact support.
  • Foundation Ambassador
  • Work with Olympic College President to develop a culture of philanthropy within Olympic College.
  • Serve as liaison to and seeks to strengthen relationships with Board of Trustees, Executive Staff, department leaders, program staff to promote foundation activities.
  • Serve as a representative of the Foundation for in-house, on-campus, community, and donor-related activities.

  • Develop understanding for future priority Olympic Collage campus-wide initiatives, such as Poulsbo health care campus.
  • Create meaningful context for OCF's program impact initiatives via greater understanding of systemic inequities and barriers re: student access and achievement and the value of OCF in mitigating them.
  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience in a senior management role in a non-profit fundraising organization, and experience working with a volunteer governance board.
  • Demonstrated record of successful fundraising, including creating and managing development and donor acquisition plans.
  • Experience supervising and managing employees.
  • Working knowledge of the laws applicable to non-profit organizations.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the local community.
  • Administrative experience in a Community College setting
  • Proficiency in using Raiser's Edge Database Software and working knowledge of QuickBooks for non-profits.
  • External Associations/Affiliations - CASE, CRD, and local service club membership.
  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in a related area, (such as Non-Profit Management, MBA, JD).The Successful Candidate will

    Terms of Employment
    This is a full-time exempt position scheduled to work Monday through Friday, the salary range is $102,676 - $128,345 DOE annually, which includes a generous benefits package that includes the following.
