Position: Child Developmental Specialist
Location: San Antonio, TX

Rate of Pay: $15.00/hrly

Status: Full Time

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

The Child Development Specialist is responsible for teaching parenting skills to residents and attending to the basic care, behavior management and development needs of the children residing at the treatment program.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Supports the implementation of parenting goals as identified with the caseworker, with emphasis on modeling and teaching:
    • Child development, care and discipline.
    • Home management, including nutrition, food budgeting, purchase, and preparation.
    • Home and personal hygiene.
    • Identifying and accessing appropriate resources.
  • Plans, implements, and supervises children's individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills such as learning to listen to instructions, playing with others, and using play equipment.
  • Instructs children in practices of personal cleanliness, self-care, caring for own clothing, and picking up and putting away toys and books.
  • Provides instruction, supervision, encouragement, and reinforcement to families according to stated goals.
  • Provides client transportation to scheduled classes as part of the approved case plan, and provide childcare during class as needed.
  • Regularly assesses and documents parent-child interactions.
  • Coordinates children's medical and community services and provides transportation.
  • Advises Program Coordinator/Director on any noted abuse and neglect, discipline, special needs, and/or emergencies; recommend appropriate action or alternatives.
  • Promotes an organizational culture that fosters passion for the mission, cooperation, open and frequent communication, teamwork, and is in alignment with the organizational vision.
  • Attends all required meetings and trainings.
  • Requires regular attendance and punctuality during the scheduled shift to perform the above essential functions.
  • Performs other duties and special assignments as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in appropriate course study OR High School diploma/equivalent plus two years directly related experience and/or training OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Texas Drivers' License.
