Job Summary
Under general supervision the Clinical Administrative Assistant is responsible for performing daily clinical administrative duties in support of Dermatopathology Services.  Duties include same day receiving, organizing and accessioning of consult cases (slides and paraffin blocks). Sorting, scanning and filing of patient demographics and clinical information. Reviewing insurance coverage information to assess coverage requirements and obtaining insurance authorizations when necessary. Editing clinical and diagnostic information entered via auto-load and manual processes. Working pending lists and responding to requests from pathologists. The Clinical Administrative Assistant is must maintain high levels of accuracy, productivity, thoroughness and completeness. Must have great attention to detail to catch discrepancies in paperwork received. Adhere to all department and institution procedures and protocols at all times.

These functions are performed under minimal supervision and require significant attention to detail in order to provide a high level of accuracy.

Required Qualifications
*    High school graduation and 4 years of related administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
*    Excellent typing and data entry skills. Superior spelling and grammar, excellent oral and written communication with attention to nuances and detail
*    Must be reliable, dependable, punctual and possess an excellent attendance record
*    Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing demands
*    Maintain focus and consistently deliver a quality product within tight timeframes
Preferred Qualifications
*    Knowledge of medical terminology as it applies to dermatology and pathology
*    Experience with Windows, APEX and medical EMR systems
*    Experience in interpreting medical information
