Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Civil Engineering Department seeks to hire a full-time, 9-month non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be highly collaborative and contribute significantly to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Department Overview:
Civil Engineering at Boise State University is an expansive discipline. Boise State offers a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with emphasis areas of environmental, geotechnical, structural, transportation, and water resources. Modern laboratories and computing facilities allow students to tackle innovative solutions to modern infrastructure issues while partnering with other Boise State departments such as Geosciences, Public Policy and Administration, Community and Regional Planning, and Political Science.
Interested applicants are encouraged to apply for a non-tenure-track Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering in the College of Engineering at Boise State University.
Essential Functions:
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching mission of the Department (60-80% effort). This will include teaching the Civil Engineering Capstone design course and at least two other classes each semester. Emphasis is on high quality senior design instruction, which will require working with the professional community to procure suitable projects for the capstone design class and to recruit volunteers from the professional community to serve as mentors for students in the capstone design class. For the other two courses, the department is open to all civil engineering focus areas except geotechnical engineering. Optional summer teaching opportunities may be available. In addition, the candidate will contribute to the service mission of the Department (40-20% effort). Service assignments/opportunities will be determined by the needs of the department.
