POSITION SUMMARY

The Registered Dietitian for the Culinary Health Education for Families program (CHEF) is responsible for providing subject matter expertise in the development of all program curricula and educational materials in support of the program mission to promote culinary health as a path to lifelong health and wellness. S/he serves as the clinical nutrition arm of this program, bringing evidence-based nutritional science to programs and services offered at the hospital as well as in the community. The Registered Dietitian will work very closely with the CHEF Program Director, Medical Director and Curriculum Specilast to provide engaging experiences that bring to life the nutritional concepts the program emphasizes. S/he will be responsible for ensuring that all CHEF curricula and materials are scientifically sound and will confer and coordinate with CHofSA physicians and registered dietitians in order to create and offer compelling classes to targeted audiences. The Registered Dietitian will also serve a critical role in providing outreach and education to community partners, to expand the impact of the CHEF Program and ultimately improve the health of San Antonians
• MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Primarily responsible for providing subject matter expertise to assist in the development of a 16 week structured curriculum for the Pediatric Culinary Medicine Certificate Program geared towards educating physicians, residents and nurses.
• Work with CHEF Curriculum Specialist, Aramark Nutrition Services and CHofSA pediatric sub-specialists to develop curricula and tools to provide culinary medicine education to medical staff.
• Work with CHEF Medical Director, CHofSA pediatric sup-specialists and primary care phsyicians to develop patient focused educational materials and virtual content.
• Work closely with the CHEF Program Director, Medical Director and Curriculum Specialist to constantly update the content and curricula of program to ensure that class offerings address the needs and strategic priorities of the hospital and its customers.
• Develop a culinary health training program, offering basic culinary and nutritional training to targeted community partners, ensuring that the CHEF is able to reach deep into the community through a train-the-trainer approach.

• Work with CHoSA community partners to provide highly engaging and culturally appropriate culinary health curricula and education materials outside of the hospital, bringing the messages and resources of the hospital program into the community.

The Children's Hospital of San Antonio, established in 1959, was the first children's hospital in South-Central Texas. Located downtown, this 190-plus-bed hospital serves more than 70,000 children annually from San Antonio, South Texas and around the world. The hospital (in partnership with Baylor College of Medicine) is the only academic children's hospital in San Antonio. Our highly specialized services meet the unique medical needs of children, from Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care to Children's Emergency Services, the latest treatments for deformities of the spine including titanium rib implants and halo traction, a Heart Center, a specialized asthma program, a highly regarded Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, and growing maternal services to include consultation, delivery, and maternal fetal medicine.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree

• Diet License in state of employment

• CDR RD
