Position Summary:
The CNS will be in the unit assisting nurses with new skills at the bedside, mentoring for decision making, developing skills for behavior management, and working with the multidisciplinary teams for problem prevention to allow the individuals to optimize their health outcomes. The CNS will work with the team to implement new programs for patients, partner with the multidisciplinary team to improve quality outcomes, and work with department, hospital, and health system resources for program changes, integration of staff education, and harmonization of policies and practices across the health system to improve outcomes, decrease hospital LOS and improve efficiency of resources.
Zayed 11 East is a 32 bed general surgery unit with acute and telemetry levels of care. This unit receives general surgery patients including orthopedic, orthospine, and trauma patients. They have implemented telemetry monitoring within the past 2 years.
Zayed 11 West is a general surgery unit with acute, telemetry, and intermediate (IMC) levels of care. This unit receives general surgery patients as well as thoracic, urology, and trauma surgical patients. They also house the Trauma Acute Unit which is one bed for acute trauma patients who are admitted directly from the Emergency Department and may need intermediate care or be prepared for the operating room.
Education:
Master's degree in a CNS track from an accredited school of nursing or grandfathered in per MD BON
Licensure/Certification:
Current registered nurse licensure in the State of Maryland.
Current designation as an APRN from the Maryland Board of Nursing which includes a certification and a separate CNS License.
Required Work Experience:
Three years of full-time experience in area of specialty.
