SUMMARY

The Clinical Obstetrician provides Subject Matter Expertise support to medical abstraction services. The obstetrician will develop and implement records analysis and quality control for COVID vaccine surveillance studies in pregnant women and their infants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Serves as Obstetrical Subject Matter Expert for project activities.

Designs and documents a quality control process for review of abstracted medical records data, to include double chart review and sample reviewing.

Provides technical assistance and analysis for medical records abstraction.

Implements and executes quality control of abstracted surveillance data.

Communicates and collaborates with CDC and medical records abstraction teams.

Provides continuous improvement to quality control processes.

Coordinates with CDC to maintain current knowledge of COVID-19 public health recommendations, considerations, and guidance.

Able to work independently. Also able to work remotely.

Communicates clearly and effectively.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

M.D. required with 30 years clinical experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Five (5) or more years' quality control and records review experience with direct patient health records.

Experience providing medical care to underserved or at-risk populations.

CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION

Advanced knowledge in the field of public health and/or health-related science.

Ability to consistently exercise discretion and judgment in carrying out numerous public health-related duties.

Skilled proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Ability to work independently, as well as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Exceptional organization skills with ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Exceptional customer service and relationship-building skills.

Adept analytical and critical thinking skills.

Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work independently, stay highly organized, juggle multiple responsibilities, and adjust to new tasks.

Ability to travel locally to gather information and meet with stakeholders.

Ability to implement a proactive approach to problem solving.

Ability to interact professionally with national, state and local health department officials, team members, corporate management and clients of all levels.

Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.

Familiarity with health care terminology.

Ability to provide background information about the project, answer questions, and provide updates to CDC, CNI project managers, and local health department staff.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to develop cohesive and cogent written materials, processes and project documentation.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic. May be required to wear safety and personal protective equipment.
