GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

The Massachusetts General Hospital Epilepsy Service is recruiting a Clinical Research Coordinator. The coordinator will be responsible for the conduct of clinical research projects focusing on the management of patients with seizure disorders and epilepsy.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintaining and overseeing regulatory documentation for research studies
• Preparing IRB applications
• Management of clinical, imaging and electrophysiology data in the context of research studies
• Educating staff as new projects are launched, preparedness to speak and explain projects in a meeting setting
• Assisting with the integration of new informatics technologies
• Subject Recruitment, Informed Consent, Study Visit Management, and interaction with sponsors, CROs, and CRAs for research studies
• Sample tracking and inventory upkeep
• Clinical trial record keeping as mandated by regulators and sponsors
• Inputting, manipulating, and maintaining information in clinical research databases

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A high level of maturity and professional demeanor is essential

• Ability to interact with physicians, nurses, and patients and their families of varied backgrounds
• Ability to interact with patients of varied backgrounds in a calm, effective and reassuring manner
• Excellent time management skills
• Familiarity with basic data analysis software is preferred (e.g., Excel, Access, SPSS, SAS, STATA)
• Knowledge of standard laboratory techniques (training available)
• Knowledge of safe sample handling procedures (training available)
• Willingness to learn how to use new specialized lab and monitoring equipment
• Ability to focus, work independently, and to regularly seek feedback
• Ability to establish priorities, balance demands of multiple projects, and meet deadlines
• Ability to pay strict attention to detail
• Excellent organizational & communication skills (articulate with good writing and phone skills)
• Desire to be involved with cutting edge, relevant research
• Working knowledge of data management programs

Qualifications
EDUCATION:

• BA/BS degree required
• 1-2 years experience in clinical research preferred but not required
• Background in information technology, computer science, or signal processing is preferred, but not required

COMPUTER SKILLS:

• Windows operating system: -Advanced
• Office Suite: -Advanced
• Database management -Basic/Intermediate
• MacOS operating system: -Optional
