Shift: 3rd, 11pm - 7am (Sun - Fri)

Purpose of position:

Set-up and operate CNC machining equipment.

Knowledge and experience:

  • High school diploma or general equivalent diploma.
  • Completion of basic math, blueprint reading and gauge-reading training.
  • Ability to understand written and oral instructions and communicate with supervisors and coworkers.
  • A minimum of three years of turning, milling and/or Bar & Chucking Machine Operator experience.
  • A forklift operator's license.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of computer applications and software.
Key Job Accountabilities:
  • Safety: Perform pre-operation checks for both individual machines and work area. Perform safety inspections required for individual machines and associated equipment.
  • Production: Set-up and perform a series of machining operations on all CNC machines. Select proper cutters, determine and adjust feeds and speeds as needed, and replace cutters when dull. Make machine set-ups when standard procedures are not established. Operate two or more CNC machines simultaneously. Select and install CNC programs and make minor adjustments to meet product specifications as needed. Suggest and submit major CNC program changes and efficiency improvements to supervisor/technician/engineer.
  • Quality: Inspect parts to meet established ISO requirements.
  • Inventory: Responsible for management of WIP and components (i.e., carbide inserts, drills, cutters, tool holders, etc.). Monitor supplies per established Kanban system.
  • Lean: Participate in lean events and utilize lean processes in daily duties.
  • TPM: Perform daily required TPM on associated equipment.
  • 5S: Perform daily required 5S activities for work area.
  • Metrics: Perform daily activities associated with gathering and posting established metrics.
  • Data: Accurate and timely recording of required data (i.e. Production, quality etc.)
