Responsibilities Summary
Are you passionate about fielding disruptive technologies to save lives and transform industries? Are you interested in the development of autonomous maritime vessels and the challenges organizing and managing technical systems in support of persistent, over-the-horizon unmanned operations?

Gibbs & Cox is developing, testing and fielding autonomous ships for the National Security and commercial customers. We are currently expanding our team to meet the unique challenges of unmanned surface vessel operations and sustainment for national defense and for the digital transformation of maritime trade. This crucial position will help mature the capabilities of current, in-water prototypes for fielded production at scale. We seek a self-starting, team-oriented technology professional to help protect our nation and advance the future prosperity of our interconnected global economy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a subject matter expert supporting Unmanned Systems (UxS) project teams for:
    • Software configuration management (build, integrate, and deploy)
    • Hardware configuration management ( drawing/BOM changes, engineering change notices, effectivity management)
    • Data management (document version control for deliverable items)
  • Provide CM task support to project throughout the project lifecycle to ensure that fully compliant and certified systems are provided in accordance with requirements, governing standards, and sound engineering practices
  • Develop or modify CM plans, policies and procedures tailored to the complexity and scope of prototyping and production programs
  • Provide CM input and review to Integrated Product Teams or Working Groups, as required, including management of program data and inputs to risks, action items and Requests for Information.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team to create and maintain hardware and software Configuration Item records (development, test, production, etc.) in a Configuration Item / Asset Management Database
  • Manage anomaly tracking and Request for Change (RFC) processes, standardize processes, and identify, prioritize, plan, schedule, and monitor implementation, fixes, retests and baseline updates
  • Provide operational management of RFC implementation, successes-or-issues, manage documentation, and participate in the Configuration Control Board (CCB) process and stakeholders
  • Recommend and use automated CM tools to implement CM policies and procedures
  • Implement CM discipline for the entire lifecycle of systems from initial requirements/capabilities baselines to system end-of-life
  • Perform change control and configuration status accounting audits
  • Support the systems integration manager in maintaining the technical baselines
  • Support a culture of teamwork, enthusiasm, and a proactive nature within the Systems Engineering team

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Active US Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Familiarity with defense industry technical standards and best practices for change management and configuration control processes to ensure highest quality deliverables
  • Experience developing, deploying and managing hardware, software and document version control processes for multi-disciplinary product teams
  • Experience using configuration management tools to store, track, and manage software, hardware and data configuration items
  • Works with the project manager and systems integration manager to develop configuration management plans, and provide input to milestones, and schedules for deployment projects

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working in design, production and / or test of a large software intensive system-of-systems program, esp. industrial, vehicle or similar automation
  • Understanding of unmanned systems logical architectures
  • Proven track record leading and/or coordinating release readiness reviews, milestones, and business Go/No-Go Activities including the execution of the deployment plans and checklists
  • Experience in migrating from a traditional to agile or Continuous integration/Continuous deployment (CI/CD) environment
  • Formal training in project management practices
  • ITIL Foundation Certification (a plus)
  • SAFE Certification (a plus)
